Imagine if I rushed up to you and shouted, “Play my new mini-game!” and then spat in your tea. Would you play my mini-game then? Absolutely not! While this is just a joke, making a strong first impression is crucial when it comes to attracting potential players to your new mini-game in Minecraft Pocket Edition!
Fortunately, the builders from Patheria know exactly how to create a positive impact. The instantly captivating structure of Wolfsspiele serves as a lobby that connects various mini-games through an eight-lane central pathway. All nodes of Wolfsspiele blend seamlessly, forming an organic system that transforms it into a vibrant metropolis with its unique style.
The combination of intricate architecture and lush colors makes one feel like they are at the heart of a fantastic theme park in MCPE.
“Honestly, I’m not even sure what to call these styles. They aren’t gothic or medieval; I think it’s some sort of mix,” says Flash2Boom, a member of Patheria. “If you look closely, you’ll likely notice differences between the structures. You can discover various villages and many secrets behind the connecting bridges.”
Each bridge leads to a building designed to encourage players to choose their mini-game. Survival Games features a bright sign (a clever use of two swords to form an ‘A’) to draw you in, while other games in Minecraft PE showcase detailed castles promising adventure and excitement should you decide to pick them.
However, the project didn’t have a smooth start. As Flash2Boom explains, “At first, it was challenging to come up with ideas, especially on such a scale. Most buildings exceed 200 blocks!” This allows for reaching close to the maximum height you can build in Minecraft PE (256 blocks), presenting a design challenge for a team that clearly enjoys constructing colossal structures!
After extensive brainstorming, the team came together to begin building and tackling the challenges that accompany such ambition. “Sometimes we had a completed structure, but it didn’t fit well within the world, so we started anew.”
This can be daunting considering the time, energy, and creativity invested in MCPE, but sometimes you must step back and do what’s best for the overall project.
Fortunately, as more was built, the team could see the final result—a cohesive vision where each person’s craftsmanship met and merged. Builders like Kev focused on landscaping, Fabi worked on organic designs, and Wubi concentrated intensely on details. Lucius created structures, while Lucky “emulated different styles to find his own.”
Everyone on the team has a specialization they wish to develop further, yet most are learning new skills by collaborating on a shared project in Minecraft Pocket Edition. As Lucius stated, “Everyone has their own ideas and skills.” By combining them, you maximize everyone’s contributions and inspire one another.”
Wolfsspiele reflects this in its diverse projects and vibrant features—it resembles a playground where builders were encouraged to experiment with any styles or creations they wanted to try. For instance, there’s not only a wolf but also a detailed figure of a man adorned with a monocle and a parrot.
“We kept coming up with more and more ideas while creating the lobby,” says Flash2Boom. In particular, one of the standout aspects of Wolfsspiele was inspired during this time—the colorful signs adorning the building facades. “We thought it would be nice to add signs in various styles. The issue was that most processed blocks on the server are 16-bit, which causes some objects to disappear when you move too far away from them.”
So, what’s the solution? “We placed the signs at a distance where players can read them while walking through the center of the map.”
They may be smaller than initially expected, but when you stand in the middle of the bridge contemplating your options, seeing all those signs bloom as you make your choice… it truly offers a vast selection! Too much pressure!
In any case, if faced with various challenges along the way, Patheria is a team of experienced and passionate builders. The charming Wolfsspiele is merely the latest among numerous fun and impressive constructions you will encounter next!
Flash2Boom emphasizes that the key to developing your building style lies in participating in special building events on multiplayer servers. There, you can meet other skilled builders and enhance your abilities through constructive feedback from others. “Anyone can build, but some people are more talented, while others need to learn. Attend plenty of building events—it really helps.”
