Poaching problem
A crucial initiative aimed at addressing the issue of animal conservation

Projects often emerge within the theme of stunning nature in Minecraft PE. They share a commonality – they pay homage to the beauty of the natural world: the symmetry and craftsmanship of human creations, as well as the delicate colors and shapes found in wildlife.

Unfortunately, there are also projects focused on tackling global issues in our world: they aim to provide solutions.
Poaching problem
The Effects of Poaching is a project that, at first glance, appears similar to standard initiatives: two rhinos peacefully roam the wild savanna. A touching scene reminiscent of a documentary by David Attenborough, where he discusses the habitat and dietary preferences of rhinos.

Sadly, not everything is so bright: a person half-hidden in the bushes aims a gun at these defenseless creatures. Recently, the white rhinoceros species has completely vanished due to poaching. This prompted builder MineSheep to draw attention to this issue through his creativity in Minecraft Pocket Edition.
Poaching problem
“I am literally shocked by how many species are disappearing due to poaching,” shares MineSheep. Rhinos are on the brink of extinction because of the value of their horns, which are used in various medicines and highly prized ornaments.

This creation embodies the reality of poaching. A particularly sad moment is when the rhino likely hears the sound of the gun being aimed at it and raises its ear. Now it awaits its fate while the poacher anticipates his reward. The poacher will kill the adult animal, leaving a young orphan behind—still too immature to yield a sufficient “harvest.” “It’s a survival instinct. Poachers earn their living from this,” explains MineSheep, “but they have no idea how much they are destroying our nature and our world.”

The landscape features shades of brown, beige, and gray—designed for everyone to use the build on their servers. “I wasn’t fond of the color scheme initially, but later I realized it’s a good choice for those who don’t have access to newer versions of Minecraft PE,” asserts MineSheep.

Surprisingly, MineSheep never plans what he will create. “It’s a bad habit not to plan, but personally, I find it much easier since planning takes up a lot of time. I get frustrated thinking about all the time spent planning instead of building.” Often, they rely on regular photographs to determine proportions. You’ve probably faced this challenge if you’ve tried to draw an animal just from memory.

Our builder, like many others, utilizes special programs that significantly simplify the construction process. For instance, the program VoxelSniper offers numerous tools that aid in building. Additionally, WorldEdit was employed along with a friend (not a program) who assisted with landscaping—the grass looked very unnatural. As a result, we have a high-quality representation of real life with a unique narrative.

And although MineSheep understands that it’s unlikely anyone can help combat such an issue, he still believes that this activity could lead to some positive outcome. “Our game has an incredibly large community. Even a small dent in such a problem can contribute significantly!”
