The uniqueness of these structures in Minecraft Pocket Edition lies in the enchanting and breathtaking atmosphere, all of which can be found in the City of Angels. By merging architecture, art, creativity, inspiration, imagination, and more into one place, people create wonders. The current builder, Musical_Mystery, fully aware of this, has crafted these marvels in his vast metropolis of Roklavia.
The design of the city in Minecraft Bedrock was so extensive that it turned into friendly competitions among players on a server known as the Realm of Allura, with the city built on a map created by Moonti. “The fierce competition among participants motivated and inspired new creativity,” Musical_Mystery shares. “Everyone wanted to stand out in their own way, but standards, goals, and visions of perfection varied, leading them to build something unique and bring their fantasies to life. I always desired much more than I could create myself.
As I observed numerous other fictional cities, inspiration came naturally, yet intuitively, there seemed to be something lacking; few elements distinguished them from one another. My thoughts were: ‘What if I gathered all these dark and monotonous images of grim buildings, combined them, and ironically changed their colors to brighter tones?’
This brilliant decision gave Roklavia its distinctive, dazzling appearance, making it resemble a city made of pure marble, perfectly blending with the surrounding atmosphere of snow-covered trees. To grasp the magnitude of Musical_Mystery’s efforts, one only needs to look at the clock face and orange peaks.
It took about five months to realize his vision for the city’s construction while consistently adhering to his impeccable color palette. “My buildings were primarily constructed from quartz, red sandstone, cobblestone, and brick,” he explained.
In addition to this, he employed various techniques and clever tricks to comfortably implement his ideas. “After creating one detailed building, I copied its segments and used them for other structures. For instance, arches hidden from the front sides also served as load-bearing walls for the tower’s base. Such tricks undoubtedly save time and help maintain a consistent style, adding neatness and aesthetics.”
However, constructing truly magnificent structures required considerable attention to detail. Musical_Mystery also decided to give all blocks a more aesthetic appearance by transforming them into curves and circles through architectural designs. “These forms, when applied correctly, can make Minecraft genuinely epic,” he explains.
But in reality, it’s not that simple! “One of my proudest constructions is the staircase beneath the bridge. It required many precise calculations, which proved to be quite challenging, but once completed, the result exceeded expectations.
He also mentions dedicating significant time to two statues called the Sinister Angels. They were created during different periods, and essentially, the first statue served as a foundation for the second, allowing him to apply his newfound skills and enhance the previous design. “I experimented with the sculpture’s rotation and managed to achieve more realistic wings,” says Musical_Mystery.
The significance of these statues is far greater than it appears. Mystery aimed to imbue them with a special mood and atmosphere, conveying that despite the brightness and contrast of the peaceful sea outside, danger lurks beneath. He reveals that events like the French Revolution inspired him to create such projects, resulting in a city where one can feel an aura of power and wealth, along with sadness and regret.
That’s why buildings like the government palace for legal affairs and the clock tower are crucial for proper time management. The clock was also the first structure Musical_Mystery created entirely from quartz. “For me, the outcome was quite satisfying, as quartz lent a mesmerizing appearance to the clock tower,” he states. “Ultimately, I detailed the entire city with this component, giving it a delightful look.”
“The government building, topped with a grand dome, was inspired by the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. However, instead of the Statue of Liberty atop the dome, I placed my angel sculpture wielding a threatening sword and lantern,” describes Mystery.
The creator attributes his rapid growth in city assembly development to strong support from the northern community. “After spending a considerable amount of time in the Realm of Allura, I noticed that there were many creative individuals offering suggestions for project implementations, as well as providing constructive criticism regarding builds. I am sincerely grateful to both the administrators and fellow builders who offered advice and shared their experiences in Minecraft,” he expresses.
Despite all the internal motivation deep within and universal inspiration, ultimately collaborating with peers is one of the most critical factors for success, especially when there’s a constant fear of losing everything.
