The creative journey in Minecraft PE can be quite unpredictable. Moods, details, and concepts shift dramatically, often leading to project delays or halts. For builder Mike Bozza, color became the missing element in his latest creation – the Witch’s Laboratory.

The Witch’s Laboratory is a vibrant and colorful structure inspired by the Sketchfab competition. Here, you will encounter intriguing and otherworldly activities that would certainly not be out of place in a sorcerer’s workspace.

“The goal was to create a spooky witchcraft room with cool sci-fi elements,” Mike explains. “Initially, it was just going to be an old witch’s lair. It wasn’t until midway through the project that I started to think about what we ultimately ended up with.”

The Witch’s Laboratory marks Mike’s first completed project in MCPE that he has shared publicly. “My previous creations were never fully finished,” he says. “They were all very small and had various styles, but the issue was that I never had any work that truly showcased my skills.”

Every creator in Minecraft PE faces the same dilemma when they finally finish their work: Should I share this? Is it good enough? Mike found himself in an even tighter spot as he worried about how other builders might perceive his unconventional building process.

“When it comes to organic shapes, I generally don’t approach them like other organic builders do,” he explains.

His unique methods led to a creation in MCPE that seems to possess its own life, prompting thoughts about the dubious potions brewed within. Perhaps one that turns people into frogs? Or another that transforms frogs back into humans? Maybe one that converts mud blocks into diamonds? If only!

“I believe there are many mysteries here,” Mike remarks about the scene. “Even if it’s not the scariest thing you’ve ever seen, there’s definitely something enigmatic, mystical, and eerie about this project.”

The dull and uninspiring color scheme of Mike’s original design not only displeased him but also completely stalled the project. He spent nearly a year grappling with it before realizing that altering the color palette was key to moving forward.

Thus, Mike began to think outside the box and recognized that strong contrasts against muted colors could invigorate the work. This allowed him to view other effects in Minecraft Pocket Edition differently, inspiring him to push through to completion.

As a result of this color transformation, the Witch’s Laboratory exudes an atmosphere far more captivating than merely ghostly. Certainly, many objects in the space appear capable of banishing anyone too curious into another realm, yet the bright dwelling resembles a witch’s workshop creating a kaleidoscopic chaos.

Mike states that developing the Witch’s Laboratory gave him a greater appreciation for the potential of the Minecraft Pocket Edition community.

“I always knew the platform had potential, but what I really think is that the creation of the Witch’s Laboratory showed me the potential of young creators like myself.

“We have not only achieved such mastery from scratch, but we’ve also been able to utilize the Minecraft PE platform to do more than just build houses and hotels… not that there’s anything wrong with that; that’s fun too!”

Great artists learn from their works, and Mike certainly took away valuable lessons from this experience. “Any worthy idea can evolve into something great,” he asserts. “Even if it’s built upon similar concepts.”
