The builder TrooperJoe dedicated nearly eight years to a single Minecraft project, investing over 10,000 hours during that time! This incredibly vast map features all the most iconic structures, including Notre-Dame de Paris, the Colosseum, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and an intricate network of streets, bridges, and gardens. It will be quite challenging to view the entire world at once. The reason lies not only in its immense size but also in the wide variety of stunning ancient, medieval, and fantastical realms.

“To the left is the Cathedral of Notre Dame. The center showcases the main city with European-style buildings,” explains Joe, the map’s creator. “On the right side is the Great Sept of Baelor, inspired by Game of Thrones. There’s also the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Pisa Cathedral, and an entire area influenced by Italian architecture.” And this is just the beginning. The map includes a meticulously recreated Colosseum with every detail accounted for. There’s a massive castle complete with bridges, drawbridges, watchtowers, a chapel, and a greenhouse. To capture the essence of Italian and French homes, Joe utilized white quartz. “It resembles white marble and fits into several styles of old European culture.”

“There’s also a mountain range that I built from scratch. It took nearly two months for terraforming, landscape design, and construction work, and only about 15% of the project is complete.”

Interestingly, Joe doesn’t plan his builds in advance. His background in graphic design allows him to freestyle everything. The only resource he relies on are photographs of real structures. “I worked in a photo studio for several years. Many techniques I learned during photography, such as composition, symmetry, and more, have greatly influenced my building,” Joe shares.

It might seem that after several hours of work, Joe’s motivation would wane, but in reality, it’s quite the opposite. He expresses gratitude to his loyal Twitch viewers who help him keep building. As a token of appreciation, he collaborates with them on new structures so they can feel involved and valued. “My long-time viewers who meet certain criteria can request builds. I will create whatever they desire, implementing their design ideas if they fit into the overall theme of my world in Minecraft Bedrock. I’ve constructed over 50 major structures based on viewer requests, and around 100 more are on my list waiting for their turn.”

In his streams, Joe encourages builders of Minecraft. “I want to demonstrate that hard work, patience, and practice can turn almost any player into a skilled builder,” Joe shares. He illustrates this by comparing his early constructions with those he created later on. For those interested in building in Minecraft Bedrock, Joe recommends creating large structures with unique architectural styles. This could be Japanese, Greek, modern, futuristic, or even a blend of different styles. Another tip is to work on multiple builds at once. This way, you can prevent burnout; if you get tired of one project, you can always switch to another.
