Chahkgri Palace is a place where you are sure to lose yourself. Even before stepping inside, visitors can easily spend hours wandering through the luxurious and intricate gardens in Minecraft Pocket Edition. There’s even a gigantic hedge maze!
Upon entering the palace, you’ll find well-maintained staircases, corridors, and rooms. There are more columns than you might expect. Seriously, don’t try counting them. We can’t afford to waste an entire day on that since we still have the rest of the palace to explore.
Check out the video above for a grand tour of the palace! Just remember not to touch anything.
The creator of this Sand Palace is Kesaro, a 22-year-old animation student from Belfast who discovered the world of Minecraft PE back in 2009 when he aspired to become an architect.
“I’ve always been fascinated by Middle Eastern culture,” Kesaro tells me. “The architecture from its classical eras, the stark contrast between often harsh environments and stunning beauty.”
“Growing up in rural Northern Ireland meant that the outside world always held a mysterious allure for me.”
“With Chahkgri Palace, I wanted to look back and create my own native world using Arabic architecture along with Babylonian, Persian, and Greek styles that have greatly influenced my artistic career and creative endeavors in Minecraft.”
While different sections of the palace blend well together, their styles vary intentionally from the outset.
“Honestly, the layout of the palace was something greater than just a natural evolution, as it was somewhat planned,” explains Kesaro. “Many prominent castles or palaces had numerous architects involved, often because their construction spanned extensive periods.”
“So, when we began building, I wanted each section to reflect that it had its own architect behind it. Despite this organic evolution, I aimed to create; I lived within this environment.”
Inside the palace in Minecraft, you will discover wine cellars, private chambers, kitchens, stables, banquet halls, a throne room, a ballroom, and much more! It’s easy to envision these spaces bustling with servants awaiting the palace owners and their esteemed guests.
“I enjoyed planning every room I wanted to include and then arranging them like a puzzle to achieve the best layout,” says Kesaro. “This relaxed approach involves understanding what you want at the core of building, followed by making decisions.”
This completed structure consists of exactly 4,295,374 blocks. Wow!
“Size became a challenge,” admits Kesaro. “When undertaking such a task, it’s easy to get lost or abandon it altogether. I was fortunate to have a very good friend who supported me throughout the building process.”
This friend played a crucial role in the success of Chahkgri Palace. As Kesaro fully immersed himself in the building journey, he found himself surrounded by builders who inspired him to create in the first place.
“I’ve met some amazing people in this wonderful game Minecraft, many of whom I’m still close to,” shares Kesaro.
“Ultimately, the most significant source of inspiration for me has always been the community I’ve found in Minecraft PE, and the support from those who share many of my passions and are always willing to exchange ideas and feedback.”
