Bundles are making a comeback! Much like trendy bucket hats or other Minecraft-related items, bundles first made their debut in 2020 when we introduced them for early testing. While the process of crafting bundles is quite straightforward (requiring just two ingredients!), bringing them to full functionality took more time. However, the concept of filling our inventories with bundles was so appealing that we decided to see it through—especially since they make collecting blocks and items during adventures in the Minecraft worlds much easier. Therefore, we’ve been diligently working on their implementation and plan to launch them later this year. In the meantime, we have reintroduced bundles for testing once again.
Help us make bundles the trendy item of 2024 by testing out the latest version of this feature – now available in the Minecraft: Java Edition snapshot and for the first time in the beta and preview versions of Bedrock Edition. If you’ve previously tested bundles, keep reading to discover what’s new!
Bundles are items that can store other items! Intrigued by this innovative storage concept, I grabbed my backpack and attempted to cram 64 blocks of cobblestone into it. Unfortunately, such functionality is exclusive to bundles – they allow you to store up to 64 items of the same type (as long as they can stack up to 64 units).
What’s truly remarkable about bundles is their ability to combine incomplete stacks of items. Now, three different types of flowers, four blocks of wood, and countless carrots can be merged into a single bundle, freeing up space in your inventory. Hooray!
For those who often glance at their increasingly cluttered inventory and wonder: does this bring joy? Bundles provide a fresh approach to organizing and optimizing all the tools, blocks, and items you need for adventures in the Overworld. Additionally, the new version makes it easier to add, view, and remove items from bundles. Previously, you had to first remove the last added stack. Now, you can scroll through the items in the bundle and choose which stack to take out. Yet another reason why they surpass regular backpacks!
