Temporary changes to Minecraft Earth

With everything happening in the world today, adjusting to a new lifestyle can be quite challenging. Nevertheless, the team behind Minecraft Earth is diligently working on updates. Since the game relies heavily on exploring the environment, several modifications have been introduced to allow players to fully enjoy the experience without leaving their homes. To elaborate on these changes, the team provided a brief statement:

Minecraft Earth is built upon the foundation of our creative community. We have always approached game development as a collaboration with our players, and naturally, your health and safety are of utmost importance to us.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we have temporarily removed travel features from Minecraft Earth. Many countries are mandating the closure of public spaces, making numerous augmented reality adventures not only inaccessible but also potentially hazardous. You will still be able to create private adventures; however, public adventures generated on the map will not be visible. This is not a permanent change, but at this time, we do not have a specific date for lifting these restrictions, as our decision is based on the precautionary measures outlined by the World Health Organization.

At the end of March, we introduced new gameplay mechanics to adapt Minecraft Earth for home play. Adventure crystals and nearby items allow you to maintain social distancing. Soon, there will also be an option to share copies of your building panels with friends. We are always open to implementing new features that ensure the safety of our users. Let’s get through this challenging time together!
