I’m certain that each of you has a vast array of furniture at home: beds, chairs, tables, kitchen sets, sofas, and so on. All of this was designed to make people’s lives more comfortable and enjoyable, but Minecraft seems to have missed the mark in this regard. When I think back to those houses, dirty and gray, it leaves an unpleasant feeling. The only positive aspect is that they can protect you from spiders and other unwanted visitors. However, I would never invite friends over there.

Jonathan, also known as “SnugSites,” noticed this when he first started playing Minecraft Bedrock. Gradually, he began to develop his own ideas for furniture and eventually created his website MinecraftFurniture.net, where he assists other players in making their homes cozier.

“I realized that buildings lacked interior style; everything seemed fine, yet something was missing—too much empty space,” Jonathan explains. “I understood that Minecraft offers a plethora of tools and materials for creating livable spaces, so I thought about encouraging people to enhance their builds to be more habitable. I believe the main thing to change is to shift the focus from constructing the largest structure to creating places where we can enjoy ourselves and socialize.”

It all began with furnishing a mansion on a survival server, which sparked interest among players who started looking for inspiration from Jonathan to make their homes more comfortable. But Jonathan wanted to do more to help players find unique furniture and decor ideas, leading him to create a website where anyone could gain inspiration and advice.

He launched his site in 2011, providing players with useful information on how to create cozy interiors within their Minecraft structures, along with additional photos, videos, and tips to ease the building process.

I asked Jonathan what he considered the most important piece of advice, and he replied that focusing on individuality and originality is key. There’s nothing more crucial than this point; no matter what you build, it can’t be deemed wrong because there are simply no boundaries or concepts in Minecraft Bedrock interiors.

This point can also relate to Jonathan’s advice, but he preferred to highlight it separately due to its significance. “Try to create everything you need for a comfortable life. Use torches, plants, carpets, and unusual blocks in your construction. Experiment with colors and materials until you discover combinations that make your home feel cozier, and most importantly, that you love.”

A practical tip, however, is to ensure that different rooms are separated by walls, but make these walls two blocks thick so that each room has its own distinct style. Look at the house you live in; likely, your bedroom and living room don’t share the same wallpaper, so design your Minecraft Pocket Edition home similarly. Additionally, this will not impose limitations on your design, allowing you to craft the aesthetic of each room individually.

Jonathan has favorite posts on the site that he believes effectively showcase creativity and resourcefulness. From a simple yet clever dining chair to a drum set and a sleek, stylish fireplace, all this furniture utilizes standard blocks combined to create something new. Hmm, I think the fireplace in the picture is too close to the wooden wall.

For a long time, Jonathan studied construction, continually developing and refining his design skills in Minecraft. He utilized a creative mode server for experimentation, where he could also interact and exchange knowledge with other players. Occasionally, design competitions were held on the server, and now Jonathan expresses a desire to return there soon. He believes that competitions always provided a “nurturing and creative environment focused on constructive feedback.” This means players could genuinely delve into others’ ideas, possibly featuring them on the website.

My favorite design is the indoor jacuzzi, especially since it’s featured in the “Lifestyle and Office” section of the website. I wish I had a jacuzzi in my office! It even uses Netherrack to create the illusion of steam rising from hot water.

Jonathan hopes to see the website continue to grow, inviting community members to share their ideas. If you’re struggling to come up with something, Jonathan has another suggestion! “We’ve found that the best ideas often emerge through collaboration.” So why not gather some friends and explore what interesting interiors you can create together?
