Cats have long aspired to the extraordinary fame enjoyed by their relative, the lion, dreaming of a similar level of recognition for centuries. While they may never achieve the title of “king of beasts,” they certainly deserve attention. What about the PR teams that existed in Ancient Egypt? Indeed, cats were revered in Ancient Egypt, where statues were erected in their honor, symbolizing fertility and the sun. But what about today? In modern times, gaining popularity often requires a cat to pull off some outrageous or humorous stunt, or perhaps to feign innocence when scolded for knocking over a flower pot. Most importantly, all of this needs to be captured on video and shared on YouTube to reach the peak of viral fame. If they could browse the internet, they might feel disheartened.
We need to change this situation urgently. We’ve come up with a unique contest that will help your cat gain fame in Minecraft. Our wonderful and inventive friend Jasper Boestra has created numerous cat skins that are already available in the beta version of Minecraft Bedrock. However, inspiration is endless, and sometimes laziness takes over, which is why we devised this contest—to pay tribute to these magnificent animals. By combining all your ideas with ours, we aim to create the final ninth skin, crafting a masterpiece.
To make participation as easy as possible, we’ve streamlined the process for this contest. So, what do you need to do to enter? Simply take a photo or record a video of your cat—there’s likely no shortage of those in your gallery even without our contest. Next, share your cat’s photoshoot on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram using the hashtag #Minecraftcatcontest. The only thing left is for all of us to decide which cat deserves to be added to Minecraft Pocket Edition.
Important! Your profile must be public; otherwise, the hashtag will only be visible to your followers. You can find all the details and rules of the contest here.
One crucial point: you need to post your cat before November 12. After this date, we will use a special technique to evaluate the cat pictures. We call this technique “the eyes,” as it will allow us to review all your submissions. At the end of the evaluation, three finalists will be selected from the contest.
Don’t think we’ll choose the finalist alone. This right is handed over to you, allowing you to decide which of the three cats will be added to the game! Voting will take place on social media, and we will provide more detailed information later since voting will occur only on November 16.
After a couple of days of voting and tallying results, the winner will be announced on November 19. They will join the game as part of the Village & Pillage update next year, becoming a permanent part of Minecraft!
