How would you refer to a structure in Minecraft PE that serves as part of a palace, a governmental building, and embodies mystery along with magical treasures? The creator of this magnificent edifice, located in the fictional land of Mevani, has an even more grandiose (and oddly fitting) name for this Mevanian Palace.
“The actual title is ‘Archem Valkor,’” explains Michael Fox.
“It’s not a palace by definition, yet it is constructed like a temple.” I didn’t believe there was a term for such a place, so I thought, “Hey, let’s just make something up,” hence ‘Archem.’ The second part of the name, ‘Valkor,’ simply refers to the location.”
So, is this the building where you pay your travel tickets, shout at your lawmakers, and get a bit of art history on the side? Impressive! Just like the tale of Archem Valkor.
“Much of the construction’s narrative revolves around two magical orbs.” The first is an obsidian sphere that harbors and spreads much of humanity’s anger and fear. The other, an emerald orb, symbolizes love and loss among people. Due to past misunderstandings and misuse of the spheres’ powers, they are now safely guarded deep within the palace by a custodian who maintains balance between them.”
Even without knowing the intricate details of the story, one can see their elements reflected in the design of Archem in MCPE.
“The three colored banners represent the three factions/provinces of Mevani coming together for a better future,” explains Mining. Fox. “And the design in front of the palace signifies the division into two parts and reveals the divine power contained within, also referencing the two sacred stones hidden beneath the palace.”
Constructing something like this was no easy feat, and certainly not quick. “It took me several years to build this in Minecraft PE, and sometimes I took breaks lasting months. Honestly, I’m not sure how many hours I spent on it.”
But it was definitely worth it.
“My favorite aspects of the build are undoubtedly the church entrance and the Sacred Crypt below it. I particularly enjoy the Crypt because it was situated in the basement of the palace (or in Minecraft Pocket Edition, if we’re being specific!) My goal was to make this section remarkable and incredible to the best of my ability, and I hope I succeeded.”
What could be inside this crypt? Mining Mr. Fox doesn’t reveal, so you’ll have to go find out for yourself.
But what does it take to construct a palace castle?
“It all began when I saw the stunning creations of other builders in Minecraft Pocket Edition. I thought I had enough practice. Once I established the overall plan, I started pondering what the story of this place would be. Ultimately, it evolved into a vast narrative. This cycle of building and storytelling has kept me engaged all these years!”
And the saga of Archem Valkor doesn’t end here.
“I now have two thousand years of lore in my mind, including numerous significant characters and events, but it’s too much to create a build in Minecraft PE. Currently, I’m attempting to write a book about it.”
Amazing. And I think I have the perfect title for it…
