When the daily grind of earthly existence becomes overwhelming, with constant hustle, the need to gather resources, craft items, sort them out, and grow food making life unbearable, it’s the perfect moment to abandon everything and set off on an adventure! Grab a few essentials, some food, your favorite pig, and head out—towards the uncharted shores of the ocean in Minecraft aboard your new, splendid boat! Boats were introduced in Minecraft during the alpha version 1.0.6 back in 2010. They are crafted using five planks arranged at the bottom of the crafting grid and along the sides. If you’re playing on the Bedrock version, you’ll also need a shovel. Once the boat is created, place it on the water and click “use item.” Congratulations, you’ve completed your first lesson in exploring the uncharted depths of the ocean in Minecraft Bedrock!

Once you’ve satisfied your wanderlust and no longer require the boat, you can either sink it or sell it. People have been constructing and utilizing boats since prehistoric times. The earliest known seafarers lived between 800,000 and 900,000 years ago on islands that are now part of Indonesia. Carved stone tools were discovered on Flores Island, notable for their uniqueness due to the absence of similar materials nearby, indicating they were transported from other islands. The means by which these tools arrived on the island is further complicated by its distance from other lands, being 11.4 miles (18.35 kilometers) away.

The earliest boat that somewhat resembles our current understanding of boats was discovered by archaeologists in what is now the Netherlands. This vessel dates back approximately 8,000 years and was crafted from a hollowed-out tree trunk. Such types of boats were commonly used for trade and exploration by the inhabitants of ancient Mediterranean civilizations.

In today’s world, people cannot go a single day without boats, or more specifically—ships. Vast global networks rely on cargo vessels to transport a wide range of items, from food products to chemicals. Naval ships are also utilized by the armed forces of various countries, while fishing vessels operating in open waters provide seafood to communities around the globe.

The next time you feel overwhelmed, the best solution might be to take a boat and set sail into the endless ocean in Minecraft Bedrock. You won’t need to worry about food or problems; it will just be you, the soothing waves, and an adorable pig sitting behind you.
