I once had an experience living in the woods, but it was dreadful and unbearable. I can’t fathom how animals, especially bears, manage to do it. Keep in mind that it’s always chillingly cold here, and everything is quite sharp. This sharpness signifies the presence of bears, clinging to their fur. It’s impossible not to think about bears!
Now, the forest has become my element. Today, we are excited to showcase a project by Arho Mikonnen, better known as Sir_Arzie. He has crafted a magnificent woodland scene in Minecraft PE, complete with a grizzly bear, a nymph, and birch trees. While I tried to warm up under Jack’s lanterns, our builder embraced the spirit of autumn and truly amazed us with his creation—along with the lanterns…
“I’ve always loved creating things, and now with Minecraft Pocket Edition, I can bring anything to life in my favorite game,” Arho shares.
“From the very beginning, I aimed to develop the concept for this project. I generally like to use my unique method of selecting three elements that complement each other well. As you may have noticed, this assembly features a combination of birch, a bear, and a nymph,” the creator notes. The project began with designing the main characters and storyline, followed by adding the background and landscape.
The project not only beautifully captures the autumn color palette, skillfully blending it, but also conveys a sense of movement. It illustrates the transition from the vibrant, fiery hues of fall to the chill of winter winds. I wanted to learn how the author achieved such effects. “This technique relies on contrasting colors arranged in a circle. For instance, green and red, red and orange, white and blue. Movement is created through falling leaves—you feel they might drop at any moment, hence the illusion.”
Our creator is one who enjoys meticulous planning and attention to detail. “I engage in photography, often capturing wildlife. I then used these photos for my projects. That’s when I realized that falling leaves aren’t the only thing worth focusing on; the poses of the main characters also play a significant role. Viewers’ eyes are initially drawn to the branches and flowers pointing towards the characters,” Arho explains. His girlfriend insisted he sketch out a plan before starting construction.
“Bears are the guardians of the forest, so they needed to be central to the project.” I was intrigued by the bear and wanted to learn more about it. “I referenced many images to shape and draft the bear. I had to build its skeleton first before painting it. The bear serves as the protector of the nymph.”
The nymph represents part of the birch tree, symbolizing nature directly. The project’s title, KoivunHenki, translates to “spirit of the birch.”
When our author steps away from being a builder and becomes a viewer, he is often struck by unusual details. “I’m a big fan of asymmetry and diagonal lines. Originality is the best quality your project can possess. Ordinary houses lack creativity; gnomes with laser eyes are cool.”
However, originality can be achieved not just through bizarre ideas. Explore architecture and cultures from different peoples. Incorporate various forms of art. These are the tips shared by our author.
