Imagine having a fantastic day in Minecraft, where you manage to collect several shiny emeralds. It would be amazing if every day could be like this! Now that you’ve gathered a bunch of emeralds, what should you do with them next? It’s clear that you can purchase items with them, but first, you need to find a safe place to store these precious gems. Where will you keep them? In a pool of lava so no one can reach them? Please don’t do that; I once lost an entire fortune that way…
If you wish to preserve your emeralds, truly preserve them rather than destroy them, you’ll need hidden doors. I’m not talking about breaking down and rebuilding muddy walls over and over again. Who even does that? Folks, it’s 2019, not 2009. We can discover much more efficient methods instead of wasting materials, effort, time, and damaging our finger joints!
If you are a newcomer to the illusionary realm of theft prevention, we should start from the very beginning with some fundamental knowledge. There are five distinct methods for creating hidden doors in the world of Minecraft Bedrock. It all begins with the basics, the most elementary concepts that are quite obvious to many players. However, what awaits us at level five is true magic. So, get ready to dive into a world of illusions and deception, but before that, make sure you’re alone in your room, as the confidentiality of this information will determine the fate of your items in Minecraft!
Beginner
The journey through the alleys of hidden knowledge begins with a very simple question. What is depicted in the image below?
Indeed, thank you, Captain Obvious, that is certainly a painting. Everyone around is applauding you. However, don’t be so full of yourself; the introduction mentioned that we are venturing not into the ordinary realm of Minecraft Pocket Edition, but rather into a world of deception. In reality, this hidden door is merely a facade. Ha! I know you can’t see the doorway! That’s precisely the point of the artwork. Such concealment systems for important spaces from prying eyes are common in many films. To gain access, one simply needs to move the painting aside and step through. Clever, yet unreliable. Movies have taught us that if you’re searching for something—look either under the rug or behind the painting.
To create a hidden door in your world, follow the instructions below.
Step one: carve out an opening that matches the size of the painting on the desired wall.
Step two: place two plaques within the door frame. This is necessary for hanging a picture. Why plaques specifically? If you opt for another item, it’s likely that you won’t be able to pass through the doorway.
The third step: position the painting on the wall in such a way that it completely conceals the hidden door. You should be able to pass through the artwork as if you were a ghost. Or perhaps, like someone who lacks respect for art and treats it with such disregard.
Amateur
Rooms concealed behind paintings have a significant drawback—everyone has long figured out this “complex” trick, and any unscrupulous player in Minecraft Bedrock can come along and steal all your savings. It’s unreliable, so it’s time to look for an alternative method. Well, that’s exactly why we’re here. The second easiest way to create secret doors is by using a hidden button. Essentially, it’s not much different from the painting method, but this technique is known to fewer players.
First, craft an iron door and place it in a location that only you can access. You might consider combining beginner and amateur levels by hiding the iron door behind a painting. Why choose an iron door? Doors made from other materials can be easily opened with just a push, which is not acceptable for our needs.
The next step in creating your secret stash involves setting up a button to open the iron door. This button should also be hidden away where no one will discover it. Who said we can’t reuse paintings? (In fact, from a concealment perspective, using the same hiding method repeatedly is not advisable). The video below, aptly titled “Mumbo Jumbo“, will show you some excellent hiding spots for buttons in Minecraft: behind chests, banners, armor stands, and even tilled soil: Once you’ve created the iron door and securely hidden the button that opens it, you’ll need to establish a connection between them, meaning you must link them together. A redstone dust circuit works perfectly for this task. Run it between the door and the button, and your secret entrance will be ready. Well, assuming everything was done correctly. Before placing any valuable items inside, make sure to test the security system thoroughly.
I forgot to mention one more step. After setting up the system with redstone dust, it’s essential to conceal its traces. Otherwise, it will be obvious where the button is located, and the fact that it activates a secret door will be revealed. At this point, you can truly appreciate your hard work and store all your belongings there. Now you have a fortress in Minecraft that is nearly as impenetrable as Fort Knox.
Advanced
The title of this level doesn’t imply that the previous two didn’t require skills. So, at this stage, we will be constructing doors not just with buttons or paintings; from now on, things are getting serious.
This level marks the beginning of truly securing your world in Minecraft Bedrock. However, we will need to face some challenges as we work with sticky pistons. I understand that many of you may not be fond of this item, but it is nonetheless quite essential. To help you avoid any difficulties, I have outlined a detailed step-by-step guide. If you find it hard to process information by listening, here’s a video tutorial for you to watch and follow along!
1. Arrange ten piston blocks as illustrated in the image above. Start by creating a stack that is two blocks high and two blocks long, then mirror this structure directly opposite it. Next, add two more blocks on top of each of these mini-walls to form L-shaped figures. Ensure there is a gap of two blocks between the two sections. Additionally, pay attention to the fact that the green side should be positioned where the piston will extend.
2. Add a stack of two random building blocks to the previously prepared structure. Gold blocks are used here for demonstration purposes. If you wish to completely conceal the door, utilize the same type of blocks that were used for the wall.
3. Next, you need to complete the front wall and ceiling around the piston blocks while maintaining an empty space between them that measures two blocks in height, length, and width. This opening will serve as a doorway that you can either close or open once the construction is finished.
4. Place four redstone repeaters on the outer side of the arch. They should be arranged exactly in the same order as depicted in the illustration. Add redstone dust and levers there.
Now you can utilize levers on both sides of the doorway to open and close the door, whether you’re entering or exiting the room. When crafting hidden doors, use blocks that match the color and material of the walls. This will make them much harder to detect, enhancing the security of your property in Minecraft.
Expert
You may have noticed a significant issue with the hidden piston door we created during the “prototype” phase. Indeed, the lever reveals all our tricks like an arrow pointing to a treasure burial site. One could devise additional mechanisms to conceal the lever. The simplest solution is to place an object on top of it. However, for a truly secure method, it’s best to utilize some fundamental redstone systems.
A great starting point in this endeavor is the Rogue Fox guide on crafting an invisible button for a concealed piston door. The redstone system itself is quite straightforward, but when you incorporate a dropper, a bunker, and a redstone comparator, things can get overly complicated. Explaining the building process verbally is futile, so be sure to check out the video tutorial: If you find this confusing, it might be because you haven’t watched videos from other players. For instance, a user named Biggs87x has added even more moving parts to the secret door system, each designed to operate in tandem with others. An even more intricate door was devised by docm77, who utilized several armor stands to create a chain reaction that ultimately opens an iron door.
Mumbo Jumbo (the creator of a video on crafting doors at an amateur level) bursts into this article to once again demonstrate the construction of hidden doors. You can check out the video here. While some are busy making piston doors, others are engaged in true wizardry. By building some of this guy’s clever doors, you’ll rightfully earn the title of certified expert in redstone systems within Minecraft Pocket Edition. Burglars will steer clear of your home and secretly label you as a miser. Don’t want that kind of animosity directed at you? Well, you could always hand over all your savings and remain a noble person—uh, I meant a homeless noble person.
Wizard
I know, I know, you must be thinking it can’t get any more complicated. I’m here to brighten your day—there’s definitely more! Let’s give a shoutout to McMakistein for the incredible security solutions for our homes. This Austrian creator in Minecraft Bedrock designs contraptions by combining various game components and materials, making thieves scratch their heads or, more likely, completely oblivious to the hidden stash right across from them. What you’re about to see are arguably some of the most astonishing secret doors ever crafted in the game.
One of these doors is cleverly concealed within a bookshelf. To access it, you’ll need to place a missing book back on the shelf. Another will have you feeling like a witch as you draw a fiery circle around yourself to teleport downwards. The process of creating five secret doors by McMakistein is showcased in the video below. These were the first five creations from the author. As time passes, he hones his skills and presents us with another set of five innovative ways to hide a door. This time, they draw inspiration from the magical realm of Harry Potter. According to the creator, his favorite was the wall leading to Diagon Alley. To enter, you simply need to tap certain bricks with your wand. As someone who still suffers from constant skull injuries due to attempts at accessing Platform 9¾ in real life, I shed tears of joy and amazement witnessing the embodiment of the Harry Potter universe in Minecraft. Your hard-earned treasures (I hope I’m not mistaken) shouldn’t fall into the hands of con artists. You should take every measure to safeguard them by creating hidden compartments in your homes. This will surely help you, unless the burglars happen to be readers of our site. In that case… well, I honestly don’t know what to suggest. Just good luck to you all.
