Block of the day: Dispenser

The most uncultured and ill-mannered block in all of Minecraft PE is undoubtedly the dispenser! Everyone knows from childhood that spitting is rude and inappropriate. Thus, the dispenser can rightfully be considered the biggest troublemaker!

Back in 2011, when the dispenser was introduced to the world of Minecraft PE alongside bone meal, sandstone, and squids, it lacked many of the features it has today. As a result, its usage was quite rare.

Now you might be curious about the functions and capabilities of the dispenser? Simply fill it with arrows, and it becomes a fantastic trap capable of taking out any foe. Fill it with water buckets for an easy irrigation system for any farm in Minecraft PE. By positioning the dispenser correctly, you can create golems using iron blocks and pumpkins. Similarly, you can spawn a wither skeleton.

But that’s not all! The dispenser can automatically equip players at the press of a button if armor is inserted into it. If you place spawn eggs inside, mobs will appear at your command. Fire charges can turn the dispenser into a blaze, while potions can transform it into a witch. Fill it with fireworks for celebrations, bone meal for automatic plant growth, or TNT blocks for a truly explosive trap.

Dispensers are prototypes of vending machines that have been used by nearly everyone. They were invented long ago—back in ancient Rome by an Egyptian. And now they’ve made their way into Minecraft PE!

A bit of history: the modern form of vending machines emerged in the 1600s in British pubs where tobacco could be purchased. Later, in the 19th century, these machines filled post offices and train stations, allowing people to buy postage stamps, envelopes, and more. In Germany, they were used to sell chocolate, cigarettes, and even soap.

Today, you can find vending machines selling just about anything. In 2009, a machine was created that dispensed French fries. Later, Italians developed a mechanism that could bake pizza!

However, vending machines gained the most popularity in Japan, where there is one machine for every 23 people. So, when creating Japanese-themed elements in Minecraft PE, don’t forget to include dispensers!
