I spent my entire life in a quaint British village. The fields, the deer wandering through the backyard—often it smelled as unpleasant as the rear end of a cow. But regardless of that, we lived our lives there, and it was wonderful.
However, when you reside in such remote areas far from your friends, you start to accept it as normal. Instead of enjoying life’s pleasures, you realize you’re the only young person under 60 in the village, and the bus to the nearest town comes just once a week.
Now I’ve moved to a city where buses are much more frequent. Yet, I sometimes feel a pang of nostalgia for the vibrant green wilderness that can’t be replicated by an urban environment.
The creation showcased in Minecraft Pocket Edition by Daniel Velk elevates this wilderness! At its heart lies an ancient temple, a palace long forgotten and surrendered to nature, surrounded by lush foliage and vines.
Isolated from the rest of the city, our temple stands with columns and orange-red roofs in an ancient Roman style, overrun with shrubs and trees. It feels as if no one has set foot on its threshold for centuries!
You might even think the temple is straight out of a zombie movie—whether it’s “I Am Legend” or “WALL-E,” where trees grow at the base of skyscrapers, and the city is engulfed in greenery, as if nature is reclaiming its territory! There’s a sense that urban life has reverted back to rural existence.
“No, I never drew inspiration from films. Perhaps it all came together due to Indian and Roman architecture,” the creator shares with us.
While the designer took cues from various real-life examples, using this map in Minecraft PE, you find yourself transported back to the small world where Lara Croft sought artifacts and treasures.
Consider this: first, constructing anything within a massive pit is quite challenging; second, this tower appears utterly astonishing amidst the vast emptiness. In reality, it’s quite simple—if you’re here, you’ve likely found yourself in serious trouble and in a similar hole!
The project author dedicated considerable time to its backstory. “The concept initially revolved around contrasting the tower and the city. Civilization constantly encounters the monolith of the tower, striving to restore it while attempting to attract a large population, yet despite efforts spanning a century, the monolith remains unyielding.”
The city possesses its own grandeur. Built in a straightforward style, it consists solely of a few mountain blocks, inspired by Roman architecture.
The project required “only” about 50-60 hours of work, spread over several months since the author was busy with exams.
Despite challenges with studies and exam preparations, the builder managed to complete the project on time. He admits he never plans his builds because they make him overthink and slow down the process.
“I believe flying is much faster and easier than walking,” the creator confesses.
It may sound like our builder is so talented that he can create whatever he desires, possessing skills both in construction within Minecraft PE and architecture. However, the truth is much simpler. “I just wanted to find a spot to build the tower. And then everything fell into place…” the artist reveals.
Ultimately, he is incredibly proud and satisfied with his project. And we get to observe and explore his creations.
“Just take a look at the city from the tower’s perspective. It’s worth it,” the project author advises us.
