In this guide, I will introduce you to the mob known as wolf in Minecraft PE.
The wolf is classified as a tameable mob (Mobs that can be tamed).
The wolf is a tameable mob that spawns in forest, taiga, mega-taiga, cold taiga, and snowy taiga biomes. In the PC version of Minecraft, only adult wolves spawn, but in the pocket edition, wolf pups can also appear. (For more details on the unique features of the pocket edition, see Exclusive Features MCPE [Minecraft PE Guides])
Wolves can exist in three states: they can be wild, hostile, or tamed.
Wild wolves have their tails down, normal eye color, and spawn in groups of four. They are neutral towards players but become hostile if attacked.
Hostile wolves exhibit different appearances and growl at players. Their tails are raised, eyes glow red, and fur darkens. Hostile wolves revert to wild status only when the player respawns after death. They attack all entities within sight.
Tamed wolves have friendlier eye colors and wear orange collars. Clicking on a wolf makes it sit, causing it to stop following its owner. Their tails are held high. They will attack anything that harms their owner.
Taming
The wolf can be tamed using bones. It may take up to 12 bones to successfully tame a wolf. Once tamed, the wolf receives a collar and sits down. A tamed wolf has more health than any other type, and its health is visually represented by the angle between its legs and tail (meaning that as it loses health, its tail droops). A tamed wolf follows the player and can teleport to stay close, unless it is sitting or if the player teleports to another dimension or similar events occur.
Breeding
You can breed two wolves to produce a third one using any kind of meat. Puppies cannot swim. If you feed someone else’s wolves, a stray pup will spawn.
Here are some facts:
- In the pocket edition, wolves will attack creepers if the player hits them.
- The first mob that could be tamed.
