This guide is designed for players eager to learn everything about mobs. Here, I will provide information about the pig in Minecraft: Pocket Edition.
Pigs are classified as friendly mobs (they do not attack players even if provoked).
Pigs spawn during daylight on grass blocks. The primary purpose of breeding pigs is to obtain pork. Additionally, you can ride a pig, which I will explain further below.
In terms of food, pigs serve as a source of pork. Upon death, they drop 1-3 raw meat. If a pig is killed by fire, it drops cooked meat, allowing you to acquire cooked pork without using coal or wood. A pig will follow a player holding raw potatoes, carrots, or beetroots.
Interested in farming? You can breed pigs using carrots, potatoes, or beetroots. They will start mating, and soon after, a piglet will appear, granting some experience points. Unlike other baby mobs, piglets cannot be harvested for meat. It takes 20 minutes (in-game time) for a piglet to grow up. After that, a pair of pigs can mate again in 5 minutes.
As mentioned earlier, you can saddle a pig with a saddle. Hold the saddle and right-click to equip it. Once saddled, the saddle cannot be removed unless the pig is killed, at which point it will drop the saddle. To mount the pig, right-click again, and to dismount, use Shift. However, controlling the pig requires a carrot on a stick. To speed up movement, right-click while holding the fishing rod.
Here are some interesting facts:
- The pig was the first friendly mob added to the game.
- There is a glitch in the pocket edition where a pig may stand still and not react to anything, including sword hits or creeper explosions.
- Pigs exhibit thoughtful behavior; if you hold a carrot and then put it away, the pig will lower its head sadly.
That’s all for now.
