World of Knowledge

At first glance, this library appears to be an incredibly beautiful structure, but you have no idea about the dreadful events that transpired during its construction.

Many envision a library as a repository of all human achievements. Knowledge accumulated over centuries, experiences passed down through generations, and remarkable discoveries are all housed within a seemingly ordinary building. Anyone can step inside and immerse themselves in captivating stories or learn something new.

I’m certain I would appreciate libraries even more if I could read (I really need to learn how, as it significantly hinders my attempts at writing). However, even those who cannot read, like myself, can enjoy our city’s Nasher Grove library in Minecraft Bedrock, whose architecture resembles that of a cathedral. Its halls are so vast and majestic that it feels as though they could contain every book in existence.

“I aimed to create a building that evokes intense emotions at first sight, stirring only the purest and most sincere feelings,” says Canadian builder and renowned architect DestrucitveBurn, the creator of the library. “To achieve this, I needed to construct something epic, unexpected, and meticulously detail-oriented.”

The concept for the build came to him while playing his favorite game, Assassin’s Creed Unity. He was captivated by a cathedral with downspouts draining water from the roof. The author decided to use unconventional materials for the outer walls—mud blocks.

“The main reason I chose such an unusual material is that others deem it unsuitable for construction due to its unattractiveness. Therefore, you probably rarely encounter builds made from it. I wanted to demonstrate that even the ugliest block can be transformed into something epic and appealing when used correctly.”

I don’t know your preferences, but personally, I always incorporate mud blocks into my constructions in Minecraft Pocket Edition.

The library boasts an astonishing level of detail seldom seen in projects of this scale (I can’t even imagine how much time went into creating it all). The tightly packed mud blocks seem to press down on us, sometimes making it feel hard to breathe. The interior is equally heavy: intricate wall decorations and diverse floor patterns are crafted without a single block appearing gloomy or oppressive.

The magnificent atmosphere, rich, elegant golden hues make the library resemble a casino, but there’s one significant difference: here, you gain immense, invaluable knowledge, whereas in a casino, you merely lose your money. Isn’t that wonderful?

Throughout the entire building, patterns dominate over plain colors. According to DestructiveBurn, this approach is far more attractive and original. “It makes each detail appear exactly as I envisioned it. Patterns have long been present in various decorations and have been an integral part of most structures. Minecraft is no exception.”

Walking through the building reminds me of a journey through history, instantly conjuring images of the grand Library of Congress, which houses over 32 million books (have you managed to read them all?). While we may not have as many, the sheer size compensates for it. The dimensions of the structure are impressive: 469 blocks wide, 779 blocks long, and 188 blocks high.

“You can explore all levels of the building, both inside and out,” explained DestrucitveBurn. “You can even climb to the top of the tallest shelves. This is very convenient if players want to add real books.” If reading isn’t your thing, you can admire other structures nearby. For instance, animal statues surround the library, built to bring an Egyptian flair to the assembly.

However, the most striking feature of the entire building lies at its center, beneath a massive glass dome—a gigantic model of our planet!

“Most libraries serve as storage spaces for knowledge. And knowledge is what underpins our entire world. The building represents a vast center filled with books, while the globe symbolizes the foundation of this idea.”

DestructiveBurn enjoys sharing his insights, which is why he created a YouTube video detailing the construction of Nasher Grove in Minecraft Pocket Edition and expressed gratitude to fellow builders for their assistance. He also left some messages: “The journey from idea to finished product is lengthy, but it’s creativity, and it’s worth it, so never give up,” and “If you apply your mind every time you do something, you can achieve anything.”

Minecraft is a game for all ages. Many players are quite young. Writing positive reviews can serve as excellent motivation for further development, inspiring the creation of new builds. They might someday become great, as we all start small.”

Once, I had the chance to enhance my building skills by reading books in my cozy, muddy little house. Yet here I am, simply admiring the works of other masters.
