Embark on a journey to the Sapphire Studios temple atop the mountain!
In the peaks of snowy mountains, where only the bravest adventurers dared to venture and travelers often lost their way, stands the SaphireStudios monastery, remarkable in its architecture.
Originally created for a Minecraft PE tournament, this monastery drew inspiration from various real-world structures. “We have a distinct style that blends well with actual objects, so when we saw the competition, we immediately seized our opportunity,” shares one of the lead builders, Denny. “We crafted a design that even the most mature adults might mistake for art, capturing the vivid imaginations of children.”
“The colors and layouts of many monasteries around the world were eye-opening for us. This was absent in Minecraft PE, so we aimed to be the first to create something like it and showcase new cultures from across the globe.”
The project secured second place out of 87 diverse concepts. “Believe it or not, we had just a week to prepare for the project. We were late and submitted an incomplete design,” recount the developers.
Fortunately, their hard work and seamless coordination allowed them to finish almost on time. “We started with the terrain,” the builders explain, “gradually moving on to other elements and the foundation. As the monastery developed, we constructed the town and all its components.” This is why the SaphireStudios Sumadha monastery is simply stunning.
Denny notes that they not only managed to build the monastery within a week but also established a village down the slope with all its amenities. “We wanted to create something contemporary rather than historical. Our goal was to design a monastery where monks could retreat after their daily activities in our modern world.”
A notable feature of the village is a small shelter for local animals complete with hay stacks. The developers couldn’t overlook the issue of abandoned pets!
Saphire Studios wants to attract more young talents to work in Minecraft PE.
“We aspire for our community to grow. Our advice to budding artists is practice, and then practice some more! You already know that’s the key step to enhancing your skills.”
However, the team suggests additional avenues for growth: “Learn from others and analyze their use of form, color, and design. The fundamentals of art play a significant role in any creation. You can also apply your skills in other artistic fields, gaining fresh inspiration for your work. And don’t hesitate to take breaks—step outside, watch TV, anything! Occasional pauses help clear the mind and allow you to approach tasks with new ideas.”
“Most importantly, love what you do! Progress or results may not be immediate, so enjoying the process is crucial. It will keep you motivated as you develop your skills.”
Wise words from a team that builds monasteries at mountain summits!
