A month has already passed in 2020, but what stops us from looking back and summarizing the most exciting additions to Minecraft from the previous year? Blocks, flowers, mobs—everything that brought us joy in the distant 2019!
I assure you that this list is compiled based on a thorough analysis of all the updates and additions, rather than being hastily put together just before the deadline.
Composter
The composter produces bone meal. It’s quite a tasty ingredient! Wait, I’ve just been informed that it’s actually not a gourmet dish but rather a common substance used for dyes and fertilizers. Oops. Let’s move on to the next item while my bones are still intact.
Blacksmith’s Table
In addition to its stylish appearance, the smithing table holds many secrets. After a thorough investigation, I concluded that this block offers little interest for players. Its only practical use seems to be for fueling furnaces. If you’re feeling bored, you can take the table from a villager and start a campfire.
As for the villagers, they make good use of it. The smithing table serves as their workstation, and if there are no blacksmiths in the village, any unemployed villager can approach the table and assume that role.
New Flowers
Although last year didn’t bring any significant events worthy of floral gifts, the developers still decided to present us with flowers. And not just one, but a total of three blooms, each distinctly unique!
Two of the flowers were undeniably charming. However, the third one is a true embodiment of malevolence. Take a look at the valley lily: outwardly it appears completely innocent, yet inside lies poison. What more could one expect from such a plant?
If you enjoy giving gifts with a hint of mischief, the dried rose is an excellent choice. However, if you’re looking to present a truly thoughtful gift, check out our guide on gifting flowers in Minecraft Bedrock.
The third flower is the cornflower. Its introduction has allowed me to gather some lapis lazuli, as it serves as a fantastic new source of blue dye.
Bees
One of my favorite aspects—bees and everything related to them! In Minecraft, despite the wide variety of blocks available, there always seemed to be something missing. Finally, in 2019, the developers provided us with what we didn’t even know we wanted! Honey blocks, honey bottles, honeycombs, and adorable buzzing bees—what more could bring joy? Now, let’s look forward to future updates to fill in those gaps we might not even realize exist!
