Masterful craftsmanship by AlpZz!
If Minecraft were a university, what level of education could it offer? A Bachelor’s in block exploration and placement? Perhaps even a Master’s degree in village linguistics? Or an entire program dedicated solely to the use and proper positioning of empty portals? You probably set them up in your bathroom, right? But that’s out of the question!
If this hypothetical university from Minecraft Bedrock actually existed, then AlpZz would have already earned a doctorate in architectural design, having defended his thesis with the Swaminarayan Mandir. Just take a look at this masterpiece; it’s unparalleled, making all other students reconsider their efforts and head home.
AlpZz began working on this project back in 2009.
“Creating such a project has been incredibly enjoyable for me because it reminds me of my childhood when I used to build with Lego instead of blocks. Although I recall feeling frustrated with Lego builds due to always lacking pieces to complete my structures. Now, however, I get to play with Lego again through my little brother, who loves building just as much as I do,” shares AlpZz.
In 2011, AlpZz started restoring Big Ben.
Hey, that’s not Big Ben! Add this site to your blacklist! Reader, relax. AlpZz doesn’t own a Big Ben, so let’s enjoy more stunning images of his latest creation rather than any insults.
“This was my first building. I felt proud of my achievement upon completion, but now I can create more intricate designs. Back then, there were fewer block options available, which limited the level of detail I could achieve.”
However, over time, the game expanded its horizons. The variety of blocks increased, along with the range of tools available to players, such as World Edit and VoxelSniper. “My first build on a multiplayer server was called Taj Mahal. It was significantly better compared to Big Ben. As the game evolved, I felt like I was evolving alongside it.”
Now, with Swaminarayan Mandir, AlpZz has reached the pinnacle of skill he has ever achieved, yet he continues to strive for more. “When I see this temple, I remind myself that creativity, art, and our potential are limitless. As long as we have the strength to pursue our goals, we must utilize it.”
This magnificent temple is more than just a source of inspiration; its true name translates to “temple of Swaminarayan.” It’s named after a yogi who founded his own sect of Hinduism. Temples dedicated to his worship exist worldwide, and now one is present in Minecraft Pocket Edition.
“I built it for a friend’s birthday. He’s quite passionate about Indian architectural styles, so after some research, I decided it would make a perfect gift.” Proof that AlpZz is the best friend around. Because all Tom gave me for my birthday was a picture of a cake. Yes, you heard that right—a picture of a cake!
Tom: Now I know you really put thought into that gift. Hopefully, next birthday I’ll be lucky enough to receive a photo of some coals.
The Swaminarayan assembly is vast, yet it took only about 25-30 hours to construct over three days. However, despite its intricate details, AlpZz believes it still isn’t entirely perfect.
“There are imperfections in the roof, but I’m not planning to fix them,” says AlpZz. “One thing I value in construction is finding those small flaws during the process and leaving them be, as they will never truly end. They serve as reminders that no matter how many years you spend gaining experience in life, you’ll still make mistakes. These errors remind us that we are human, and therein lies the charm of what we’ve created!” So remember, the next time you spot a mistake in Minecraft, it’s remarkable!
AlpZz somewhat shyly explains that since he’s not the biggest role-player, he doesn’t have a story behind his creation. But just looking at his expansive gardens and majestic interiors, it’s not hard to imagine that perhaps within those green hedges lies a secret? Or maybe something is hidden in those long corridors illuminated by torches that seem endless. Could it be a grand treasure trove, where a flying carpet resides, or a hidden magic lamp with a Genie that might be best left undisturbed?
Good thing it got dark quickly. Maybe I’ll enjoy the hedge once more?
Yes, that’s probably for the best.
