Friendship is undoubtedly wonderful, but what can compare to the thrill of watching someone fall into a cleverly crafted trap in Minecraft? I enjoy spending my time designing various traps using TNT and hidden pits, then laughing with the unfortunate player who gets caught in them.
However, to ensure that players don’t even suspect the presence of traps, one must become a true expert in this art. That’s exactly what we’ll focus on today!
Spikes
The most basic and straightforward type of trap. It’s time for those who love rummaging through others’ belongings to face the consequences of their actions!
Build a long corridor that is one block wide and place a chest at the end. Don’t forget to hang an enticing sign!
Install dispensers at the bottom of the wall and fill them with arrows, while placing pressure plates on the floor.
Now anyone attempting to loot the chest will be met with a barrage of arrows.
- Advantages: simple, effective against both mobs and players.
- Disadvantages: inflicts low damage.
Lava Pit
Lure your victims into a shop and watch as they slowly perish in your brilliant trap!
Create an enticing store with incredibly low prices.
Place two pressure plates inside and set two trapdoors directly beneath them.
This is how the trap should look:
Once the victim steps on the plate, the trapdoor will open, sending the player plummeting into the lava pool.
- Advantages: the victim meets their end.
- Disadvantages: not entirely discreet, requires lava, and all player items will be incinerated rather than dropped for you.
Painting Trap
If you’ve already completed the tutorial on creating hidden doors in Minecraft Bedrock, you might have an idea of what’s coming!
It’s no secret that hidden passages can often be found behind paintings.
However, this time, curious players will encounter a pool of lava instead of treasure!
To create this trap, place signs in the doorway, then hang a painting on them. Dig a pit within the door frame and fill it with lava.
- Advantages: thieves receive their due. Simple to create.
- Disadvantages: using artwork for such purposes may not be entirely ethical.
Lever Trap
Create excitement among players in Minecraft: design a game where they can win a prize!
Place a block of TNT behind one of the levers.
Wait for our guests… ahem, I meant, eagerly awaited visitors.
And enjoy the show.
If you have overly inquisitive friends, consider concealing the dynamite by constructing an extra wall behind it. Alternatively, if you’re feeling particularly cruel, you could place dynamite at every lever.
- Pros: explosion!
- Cons: it’s not always easy to persuade players to pull the lever.
Trap with a Hidden Button
Create a button that opens a trapdoor beneath it.
Conceal the button behind a banner.
Invite a friend over and step aside. Make sure they don’t stand in their original spot, as that’s where the hidden button is visible.
Wait for your friend to fall into the pit, then approach, close the trapdoor, and leave.
If you have read the guide on creating hidden doors (which you probably have, as I shamelessly mention this article for the second time), you are aware that if a player discovers the concealed button, it won’t be them who falls victim, but rather you. Therefore, the effectiveness of the button’s concealment in this trap is crucial!
- Pros: discreet (almost).
- Cons: the victim might dig their way out. Remember which banner hides the button.
Chest Bomb
Place a chest and build a bunker beneath it. Under the chest, set up a hopper and nearby, a comparator. Finally, add a block of TNT to the setup.
Construct a house around the “core” of the trap and invite all your friends from Minecraft Bedrock over for a housewarming party.
Draw their attention to the chest and ask them to place something inside. Once the thrown item touches the comparator, your new home will take a little damage.
What wouldn’t you do for your friends!
- Advantages: no one will suspect the traps.
- Disadvantages: Your new home may suffer some damage.
