Every few weeks, we curate a selection of fantastic maps crafted by our incredibly talented Minecraft community and make them available for download through our Realms service on the Java Edition of Minecraft. How exciting!
In the latest content update for this year’s Realms, we present three new creations for you and your friends. There’s a mini-game that combines snowball fights, basic building, and tug-of-war, a magical map featuring combat that scratches that magical itch we’ve had lately, and a game where you’ll be shooting cannons at reptiles from a poorly constructed watercraft. Snowbound
Last year, a diverse group of content creators gathered around the dim glow of their computers to celebrate the holidays and reflect on the true meaning of mapping. This collaboration led to The Naughty List, a winter wonderland filled with mini-games for everyone.
This year, much of that team has returned with an unexpected gift right at our doorstep: Snowbound! While we’ve seen snow battles before, we were thrilled to discover that Snowbound offers much greater depth beyond typical mechanics. Players in Minecraft start the game on opposite sides of the map, armed only with a shovel. This shovel allows players to turn piles of snow into snowballs, which can be used to throw at opponents or purchase snow blocks or fortifications directly from their Minecraft inventory. As you defeat members of the opposing team, your territory expands while theirs shrinks. Once you push them back to their base, victory is yours!
Wizard’s Book 2
A whole generation of children grew up wishing they could learn magical spells thanks to some books about a young wizard. What if you could study and cast spells simply by writing them down in a book? On this map, the pen truly is mightier than the sword, as it enables you to create a plethora of incredible magical spells within the world of Minecraft!
Open your book and type BAL. Boom, and now you know the fireball spell. ICE? Now you have an ice wall. How about WIN? Will I automatically win the game in Minecraft? Probably not, but I feel better knowing my guess for the team JUM granted me a magical ice jump spell in my hotbar. Discover the difference between DAP and DAB, then dive into battle!
Raft Clash
Your mission on the “Raft Clash” map is to blow up your opponent’s treasure chest using your cannons. Your pirate raft (the budget version of a pirate ship) can be customized following certain rules, along with various types of blocks: wheels for steering and, of course, a treasure chest. Be sure to protect your chest with blocks and your nautical knowledge in Minecraft!
