Inventory: Spider Eye

Minecraft stands out significantly from other games. I first realized this when I began digging down to the very bottom. As I descended deeper, eerie and unsettling sounds started emanating from the surrounding earth. After traveling quite a distance, these noises became overwhelming, sending chills throughout my body. It felt as if someone was standing right next to me, screaming in my ear. Yet, I pressed on, breaking through the last block and entering a vast underground cavern filled with bright red eyes staring back at me.

Spiders were introduced to Minecraft Bedrock in late 2009, but they only appeared in the beta version 1.0; their official debut came in September 2011. To obtain a spider eye, you simply need to defeat either a regular or cave spider. If you’re not keen on encountering these creepy creatures, you might find their eyes in various chests located in desert temples. Additionally, there’s a chance of obtaining one by defeating a witch.

While consuming spider eyes is possible, it’s not advisable. They will restore your hunger bar completely but inflict poison for four seconds, dealing two hearts of damage. Instead, consider crafting a potion; using a spider eye can create a potent poison, even if the brewing process isn’t perfect.

Another use for the spider eye is combining it with sugar and a brown mushroom in a crafting grid. The resulting mixture won’t be consumable, but it serves as an excellent ingredient for more complex potions. These include potions of weakness, harm, slowness, or invisibility. Experimentation may lead you to discover something unique!

I initially received a close-up photo of a real spider, but it looked too frightening, so I decided to spare your nerves and utilize my artistic skills instead. Here’s a depiction of a little spider, a cute creature that means no harm. Enjoy!

Almost all spiders on our planet possess eight eyes arranged in four pairs. Two large ones at the front form images, while the remaining six merely detect light. However, some unusual arachnids have only six, four, or even two eyes. Surprisingly, cave-dwelling spiders are entirely eyeless!

Spiders boast remarkably good vision compared to other creepy crawlies. A human’s eyesight is only five times sharper than that of a jumping spider, which needs to see well to catch its prey. Their vision is ten times better than that of dragonflies, currently known to have the best eyesight among insects.

So, the next time you spot numerous red eyes watching you from within a cave in Minecraft Pocket Edition, don’t fall for any illusions. The spider can see you, and it’s coming for you. Have a great weekend!
