This article stands apart from any previously published on our site. We must inform you right away that it is a very sorrowful tale, yet at the same time, it is uplifting. It exemplifies how united and responsive the Minecraft community can be.
Bryan, better known as Pendar2, was the creator of the Emenbee Minecraft Server, which was established back in 2011 and enjoyed immense popularity among players for the next seven years. Regularly, over 1500 individuals were active there, with total visitors reaching around one million throughout its existence. These are astonishing figures typically seen only by server moderators, who worked diligently and compassionately.
However, at the end of last year, Bryan had to shut down the server. He fell ill with an incurable disease—cancer—and managing the server became impossible. Bryan fought bravely but ultimately lost his battle, passing away recently. His friend Mod_Masta wrote on the Emenbee website that he was “a genius, a compassionate person, and our hero” (be sure to read the full tribute; it’s a heartfelt homage from his friend).
But this wasn’t the only tribute made in Bryan’s memory. Players from Emenbee returned to the server to transform it into a memorial for its founder. Just look at the overwhelming number of messages and farewell notes left by players:
Since this screenshot was taken, even more boards have appeared.
Minecraft reached out to Mod_Masta, who kindly provided access to the server and allowed us to share some messages in this article.
Honestly, we simply don’t have enough space to include everything here, so we’ve selected just a few of the many heartfelt tributes left in honor of Bryan. Looking at them, it’s clear how much this individual meant to all the players of Minecraft Bedrock, and that his contributions did not go unnoticed or unappreciated.
Reading through these took quite a while. Some messages are sweet, others are sad, and some tell entire stories about the significance of the server in their lives. One player expressed gratitude to Bryan for bringing them together with friends through the game, appreciating all his hard work and dedication. Bryan serves as a role model, inspiring people to build in Minecraft Pocket Edition and pursue their dreams. He reignited my passion for working within the game.
Rest in peace, dear Bryan. On behalf of Mojang, our site, and all players, thank you for the incredible server you created.
Computer science was one of Bryan’s favorite subjects, so his family has set up a fundraising page for a scholarship in computer science in his name. If you’re interested, please visit this link.
