Fantastic builders are being sought, and they must meet the following criteria:

  • 1. Ability to construct in a fantastical style within Minecraft PE
  • 2. Being a true witch or wizard (not mandatory, but advantageous).
  • 3. Must dedicate all their time to the server, promoting it and encouraging other players to visit, ideally while loudly shouting in their faces (well, actually, you don’t have to do that).

Interested? Then perhaps you’d be a perfect fit for The Divine Showcase. Take a break from the mundane old reality on this expansive fantasy building server, complete with an ornately decorated clock tower, royal embellishments, and a massive blue dragon. Don’t worry; I’m sure he’s friendly in MCPE!

The creators say that The Divine Showcase began as a small area, slightly larger than a central square surrounded by cliffs. However, the construction steadily grew in ambition and scale as the team expanded.

“The original team consisted of 8 members,” explains lead builder Jess. The current team working on the project now comprises 15 individuals. This includes the builders from The Divine, moderators who also build when possible, and our construction manager who designed a new area beyond the main city. I would estimate that at least 20 people have contributed to this build in Minecraft.”

And their plan is to further expand their team!

While it may appear elegant and natural, transitioning from the initial square to this monolithic city was no easy feat. “The original build was created in version Minecraft version 1.7.2,” says Tom Beer, owner of the Divine Server, “so moving it to a server running version 1.11 was a monumental task undertaken by Jess.”

Indeed, Jess invested considerable time creating schematics and editing vast amounts of blocks—a challenge compounded by the use of mods and texture packs with metadata. “We had 15 types of cobblestone,” Tom notes, “unlike those used in vanilla Minecraft.”

Jess revamped everything, paying close attention to preserving textures and clarity before transferring the world back to the server.

Currently, The Showcase spans 1,316 blocks squared, whereas its original version contained only 200. But Tom and Jess aren’t stopping there. They want to invite more Minecraft builders to contribute their creations to The Showcase and expand the city within the growing realm of fantastical constructions. The application process has just opened, and already two new additions are ready for integration.

“Jess and I wanted to create the perfect world,” says Tom. “A metropolis filled with beautiful structures from people around the globe, and making this accessible to the public without any charge is personally important to me.”

I understand their desire to preserve the build— for Jess and Tom, it’s a remnant of their old server where they started as builders in the community. Nevertheless, I would fear altering my favorite creation to make room for newcomers with different perspectives.

When Tom learned about this, he explained: “Minecraft is a game that is constantly evolving and expanding. The visions of many change. If we want to stay at the top of our game, we must embrace this change; otherwise, we will remain shackled to the past forever.”

Jess herself feels nothing but enthusiasm. “It’s exciting because we see all our hard work in a new light,” she says. “So it’s not scary, just more thrilling. For instance, when you renovate your home to make it better.”

So, where can we find this mega-city? “Anyone can come to the Divine server and explore the city in the area of The Showcase,” says Tom. “As we receive more applications, they will also be added to the world for everyone to enjoy. For now, you can experience The Showcase base and search every house within its walls. However, I must warn you, there are quite a few of them!

I can’t wait to see how this server grows under the guidance of Tom and Jess, their team, and the watchful eye of the divine dragon.
