You might recall Josh “Donut” Fernandez, who was involved in the remarkable Hydro build we recently completed. His latest project may be modest, yet it still showcases his talent and creativity within Minecraft PE.
In a small area where the terrain outlines can be seen in MCPE, you will find a depiction of pine trees, rocky cliffs rising behind them, and a cluster of buildings situated at the center. Each element is unique. The trees challenge their evergreen status as they appear in shades of red and blue! The cliffs are peculiar, featuring crystalline protrusions resembling stalagmites (likely inspired during a BFC viewing). Meanwhile, the buildings are richly adorned with cylindrical elements and sealed roofs; surprisingly, this design relates to oatmeal, making it distinctive and specifically crafted by Donut for Minecraft Pocket Edition.
“I didn’t rely on real-world structures as I usually do,” says Donut. “Instead, the design stemmed from concept art and some sketches I created while being worn out from class lessons, just like many students.”
While I can’t endorse neglecting education, I must admit that the outcome of the creation turned out quite impressive. However, the idea didn’t fully materialize until Donut had taken over the space: “Once I claimed the area, my mind went blank because I needed to dive into it,” he explains. “I had some concepts in mind, looking back, I thought about doing something futuristic with a more scientific approach, but after some reflection, I decided to stick with original ideas,” certainly within MCPE.
Alongside the trees, there’s a forest temple in Minecraft Pocket Edition, which perfectly “seals the theme“. The trees and temple contrast beautifully with floral tones and towering structures. At the same time, one can sense a similar design in the growing layers of branches and corresponding segments of the building.
“It took me just over 10 days to create the structure,” says Donut. “That number could have been much lower if I had greater motivation since I didn’t expect the build to turn out as well as the idea.”
