Mirror, mirror in the office, why is there a spider right behind me?
Mirrors, aside from saving us from the perils of toothy spinach, are meant to reflect the world around us. But what if, when we gaze into the mirror, we see a reality darker than anticipated? Where our bright lights morph into creeping shadows, and all the smiles in the family portrait remain but with sharp teeth and blood-red eyes, so red they appear to be dripping? This chilling vision comes from Robin_rgx and his team at Gravity Dream, conveyed through their project titled Dark Mirror in Minecraft Pocket Edition.
I have experienced numerous fantastic builds, yet Dark Mirror stands out as the creepiest creation I have ever encountered. This boundless creativity captivated Robin and his friends from the teams Speryosse and Nugus.
“From the very beginning, we approached Minecraft PE as a survival game,” explains Robin_rgx. “However, we soon realized that the game holds limitless potential for crafting and expressing our unique vision. Thus, we began creating our collaborative builds. Like everyone else, we started small. Eventually, our style evolved, leading us to create Dark Mirror.”
It’s no surprise that considering the level of detail in this construction, it required a specialized development team for Minecraft PE and thousands of blocks. Robin elaborates on this process.
“To construct Dark Mirror on such a grand scale, we first needed to build it in miniature. We initiated the project at a much smaller and detailed scale. Therefore, when it came time to create it in its original size, we already had a model to ensure everything was aligned. Overall, the building took us about a month.”
Robin mentions that creating organic shapes in MCPE posed significant challenges, like designing a girl, a teddy bear, and an unfortunate man trapped in this nightmare. “His hat was also tricky to make, but it turned out really well once completed. The furniture and walls were quite troublesome too, but ultimately looked stunning.”
Discussing the design of Dark Mirror, Robin continues to explain where the inspiration stemmed from… apart from the dark depths of the human soul. No one seems to remind them that Halloween was a month ago.
“We actually drew upon the interior design style of Versailles and King Louis XVI. You don’t often encounter such opulent styles in Minecraft Pocket Edition, which makes our map distinctive.”
I believe there is more that makes this build unique beyond just the fantastic French wallpaper. The concept, intricate details, and subtle horror render this map the most impressive assembly in MCPE that I have seen thus far. Dark Mirror is akin to a great film; you’ll need to view it multiple times to catch every detail, and even then, you might discover something new.
I didn’t notice the broken grandfather clock until my third look, and trust me, I was astonished.
Воу, выглядит очень круто. Интересно, при постройке использовалась команда /fill?
