It seems that many are already aware that the release of Minecraft Pocket Edition 0.15.0 will introduce Horses and various new features related to mechanisms. However, let’s focus on horses and everything associated with them.
One of the developers of Minecraft Pocket Edition, specifically Jason Major, has shared some intriguing screenshots that are sure to pique everyone’s interest. In the screenshot below, you can see Jason holding a carrot in his hand. Not much to go on, right!?
The next screenshot shared by Jason shows the main menu. The first thing that stands out is the splash! The splash in the main menu reads: “Ride the Pig“. Translated, Ride the Pig means riding a pig. Is something starting to take shape?!
Next up is a more interesting screenshot where Jason shares an image of a pig wearing a saddle. What could this mean?! I think you’ve all figured it out — in Minecraft Pocket Edition 0.15.0, players will have the ability to ride pigs.
To ride a pig, you’ll need to tame it with a carrot, then use a saddle on the pig to equip it. After that, you can hop on and start riding.
If you attempt to ride a pig without a carrot on a stick, it won’t be under your control. However, if you do have a carrot on a stick, the pig will follow your commands completely. Additionally, as seen on the screen, there will be a button allowing you to speed up while riding.
The maximum speed achievable will be 24.012 km/h (6.67 blocks per second). Pigs can climb ledges that are one block high and can also navigate through vines, though this requires some skill. If the player switches items in their hand, the pig will stand still for a few seconds before going about its own business.
As mentioned in previous posts, Mojang has officially announced that MCPE 0.15.0 will include horses — and the addition of pig riding serves as further evidence of this!
