Recently, a small concept appeared on one of the official pages regarding Minecraft PC and Minecraft PE: it seems that Minecraft PE 0.15.0 may introduce support for resource packs. Many are likely aware, especially those who have played Minecraft on PC, that the desktop version does not feature texture packs but rather resource packs. However, texture packs were once part of the PC version before being replaced by resource packs starting from Minecraft 1.6.
You might wonder why texture packs were swapped out for resource packs! The differences between these two types of packs are significant, yet they share a common trait—they both alter the graphics of Minecraft.
The reason behind this change is that resource packs are much easier to modify within the Minecraft game client, allowing players greater flexibility in customizing their gaming experience according to their preferences.
Resource packs enable players to replace music, sounds, language files, end credits, splash screens, fonts, and textures without any code modifications. In contrast, making such “modifications” with texture packs can be quite challenging.
Unfortunately, there has been no official confirmation that this feature will definitely be included in MCPE 0.15.0. Nevertheless, we eagerly anticipate this exciting addition and await confirmation from the developers.
Additionally, for those looking forward to pistons in Minecraft PE 0.15.0, here’s a brief overview of them. In the video review, you can see sticky and regular pistons in action! For those unaware, the developers have long confirmed that pistons will indeed make their appearance in MCPE 0.15. Enjoy watching!
