Dozens of gleaming skyscrapers form a vast metropolis created by user 8279531640. And no, I haven’t dozed off at the keyboard; that is indeed the user’s name. If these were real structures, billions would have been spent on this city. I believe Minecraft Pocket Edition was the most suitable choice for such an endeavor.
Just imagine: a total of 16 unique skyscrapers, each with its own distinctive architecture yet harmoniously styled together. The creator paid great attention to color schemes and meticulously selected various details.
If you find yourself on the map, choosing a favorite building will be quite a challenge. Perhaps it will be the spiral tower or maybe the bubble flow seeping through building 14. But what about the third one, shaped like a cruise ship? How can such diverse designs coexist in a single metropolis?
“I’ve always been fascinated by skyscrapers and large cities. They provide me with unique inspiration for new projects in Minecraft PE. Ideas for individual buildings can come from anywhere: real-life structures, works of art, and of course, my own imagination,” shares the creator with us.
It’s truly interesting to observe his creative process. “I start by sketching all the designs on paper using a pencil. After that, they are transferred to a notebook, where they are combined into complete projects.”
“The second part of the project involves working in Microsoft Paint. There, I create separate parts of the building, which are much easier to modify than in Minecraft PE. Then, I fill in the floors, which are later copied.”
I also want to thank all the developers who contributed to creating the MCEdit program. It’s a fantastic tool that allows for large area creation with ease, saving a lot of time and effort!
Even with various tools, constructing takes many hours of work. “I’m not exactly sure, but each skyscraper took around 8 hours on average.”
Although 8279531640 has built numerous towers, he fondly remembers the first one. The initial tower is a structure divided into four sections connected by glass walkways. The entrance is adorned with plants and a fountain.
“The first tower marks the beginning of my project. It sparked everything and led to the idea of creating a grand metropolis.”
“Initially, my goal was to create a realistic city. However, with each building, my vision evolved as I decided to disregard the limitations present in real life. Architects, please don’t follow my lead!”
“I don’t possess any special knowledge of physics, but it’s clear that many parts of the buildings lack supports to hold them up. Under their own weight, they would collapse.”
Another reason why the buildings in this project cannot be realistic is due to the use of free space. For instance, the pyramid from the fifth skyscraper occupies a massive area while having very small living dimensions.
Additionally, there was a significant amount of open space between the buildings during construction, which further distinguishes it from reality.
“There’s no need to impose restrictions on buildings in an unlimited game!” concludes our builder. And that’s absolutely true. After all, it’s the endless possibilities that attract new users the most.
