Exploring Biomes: Plains

We are excited to introduce a new section titled “Exploring Biomes,” where we will delve into the biomes of Minecraft! Before we dive in, let’s clarify what exactly these biomes are.

A biome is a climatic zone utilized in the game to determine specific land surfaces (such as sand, grass, etc.) and to identify the natural phenomena typical for that area. This also plays a role in the inclusion of animals, plants, and other elements.

You can look forward to an extensive tour through the biomes of Minecraft, featuring a guide on the animals, plants, materials, and various items found within these regions. We will also discuss how to gather them and the potential challenges you may encounter while searching for them. These were among the very first biomes introduced in the Alpha v.1.2.0 update, which completely revamped the terrain generation. During this time, the Nether was also introduced, along with fishing and clocks. In terms of prevalence within the game, plains likely rank second, just behind forests.

Plains are easily identifiable against the backdrop of other biomes. Their key characteristics include flat terrain, sparse tree coverage, and an expanse dominated by simple, tall grass. In fact, grass is the most prevalent species in the plains biome, occupying nearly all open areas.

The majority of plains inhabitants feed on this grass: cows, sheep, pigs, chickens, and a few rare species. This is the only environment where wild horses can breed naturally, so if you’re looking to hunt them or find a loyal steed, you know where to go. If the weather is favorable and everything aligns perfectly, you might even come across a herd of donkeys.

In the plains biomes, trees are quite scarce, and if you do come across any, they will likely be oaks. Keep your eyes peeled, as you might discover a beehive nestled in the branches, with its inhabitants feasting on nearby flowers. There’s also a rare type of plain known as sunflower fields, where, as the name suggests, an abundance of sunflowers thrives.

Overall, the plains are relatively safe. The main hazards to watch out for include ravines, cave entrances, and lava springs that you could accidentally fall into. However, it’s important to remember that bandits often inhabit these plains, establishing outposts that they fiercely defend against anyone who poses even the slightest threat. Additionally, Illager patrols frequently roam near these outposts.Exploring Biomes: Plains Exploring Biomes: Plains Exploring Biomes: Plains  At first glance, it seems that the plains are the ideal location for building a home in Minecraft Bedrock: the flat terrain allows for easy farming and construction without the need to level the ground, while good visibility can help during enemy attacks. Moreover, there are already mobs available for farming and other resources in this area.

Nevertheless, life on the plains comes with its own drawbacks. It can be quite challenging to locate wood, and the dense grass cover makes it harder to deal with mobs; plus, holes in the ground are sometimes hidden beneath that very grass. However, at least two of these issues can be addressed right here—by taming a horse. By doing so, you can avoid falling into pits, simplify battles with mobs, and simply speed up your movement.

One of the more recent and perhaps most valuable aspects is that the plains are home to numerous villages where you can find wood and other resources. But I want to clarify that we strongly disapprove of raiding the chests of unfortunate farmers or destroying their homes for personal gain!
