Exploring Biomes: Jungle

Struggling to discover the perfect place to live, a new biome that you could truly call home? The grass always seems greener on the other side, unless you happen to reside near a desert.

What if I told you that in Minecraft, there exists a place filled with endless supplies of chocolate, melons, and parrots? A location where you can explore ancient ruins and climb to the tops of towering trees. Sounds enticing, right? Welcome to the lushest biome in the game — the jungle! The jungles were introduced in Minecraft during the adventure update in early 2012, following rainforests in earlier versions. It’s quite easy to recognize when you’ve entered the jungle; you’ll find an abundance of very tall trees, and the ground is covered with shrubs and various types of vegetation.

The jungle serves as the exclusive habitat for certain species of animals and plants. In addition to flocks of sheep, pigs, chickens, and cows, you will encounter parrots, pandas, and ocelots roaming beneath the towering trees. Each of these creatures can not only lift your spirits but also potentially save your life.

Parrots mimic the sounds of hostile mobs nearby, including the hissing of creepers. Ocelots chase away phantoms and creepers, but if you have farms with chickens or baby turtles, it’s best to keep your distance from ocelots, as they might take a liking to your pets. What about pandas? Pandas in Minecraft Bedrock are completely useless, yet they are incredibly adorable! Besides the wide variety of animals, jungles are also rich in vegetation. For instance, cocoa beans and melons grow exclusively there. In fact, searching for these plants is a fantastic way to explore this new biome in an engaging and beneficial manner. One of the key plants found here is bamboo, which is an essential ingredient in crafting scaffolding—one of the most convenient blocks for builders!

Jungles may seem like an ideal habitat: there’s food, beneficial wildlife, and plenty of timber available. However, they come with their own set of challenges. Navigating through the dense forest can be difficult, and it’s easy to lose your way. Additionally, clearing land for a home can take quite some time.

From this last point, another advantage emerges—a treehouse. Where else but in the jungle could you construct a magnificent, spacious dwelling without spending time on growing the tree itself? Unlike those villagers who live at ground level! Just make sure not to look down; falling from a great height can be quite painful.
