You can now download the mod titled “Hot Air Balloon” for Minecraft Pocket Edition, which allows you to float in a hot air balloon within your favorite game, Minecraft PE. Your ghast will transform into a genuine hot air balloon! This is an exciting concept that has been well-executed in MCPE. However, there is a slight drawback: while you can fly with the ghast, you won’t be able to control it. Still, it’s definitely worth trying out!
How to Fly in a Hot Air Balloon?
As you’ve probably guessed, to take flight in a hot air balloon in Minecraft Pocket Edition, you’ll first need to locate a ghast. These creatures reside in the Nether realm of MCPE, so without creative mode, flying around in the regular world won’t be possible. Activate creative mode in Minecraft PE and spawn a ghast, who will gladly give you a ride.
- IOS/Android: long-press on the ghast, then mount it using the Ride Balloon button.
- Windows 10: right-click on the hot air balloon.
During your initial attempts to ride the hot air balloon in Minecraft Pocket Edition, you might face some challenges. The ghast may resist at first, but eventually, it will relent, allowing you to embark on your journey together.

Installing Hot Air Balloon (.mcpack)
- Download the mod marked as “.mcpack” below.
- Run the downloaded file to import the add-on/resource pack into MCPE.
- Open Minecraft Pocket Edition and navigate to the world settings.
- Set the imported:
— Resource Packs.
— Add-ons. - Select the imported resource/add-on packs in each section.
- It’s recommended to restart the Minecraft PE client afterward.
- Launch Minecraft Pocket Edition, enter the previously configured world MCPE, and enjoy the add-on!
Installing Hot Air Balloon (.zip)
- Download the mod below.
- Extract two folders from the archive.
- Move the folder “balloon-behavior” to the directory /games/com.mojang/behavior_packs/
- Transfer the folder “balloon-resource” to the directory /games/com.mojang/resource_packs/
- Start Minecraft Pocket Edition.
- Create a new world or edit an existing one.
- Assign the selected world the resource pack and add-on that you moved earlier to the resource_packs and behavior_packs folders.
