Let’s explore an intriguing way to build a shooting range with a moving target in Minecraft. This is a guide for its implementation.
How the shooting range works and what you need to create it
The mechanism of the shooting range is quite straightforward – here’s how it will appear from the outside:
- You take out your bow.
- You draw the string and aim.
- You shoot!
Here are the resources you’ll need to bring this idea to life:
- 1 dummy;
- 1 minecart;
- 1 piston;
- 10 glowstone blocks;
- 12 fences;
- 5 pressure rails;
- 7 powered rails;
- a variety of decorative blocks of your choice.
How to Build a Shooting Range with a Moving Target
First, you need to choose a location for your future construction. A flat area measuring 14 by 15 blocks will be required. It’s advisable to lay down some attractive tiles in this space for aesthetic purposes.
Secondly, construct walls around the perimeter of the area that are 3 blocks high, and then place lanterns on them to ensure it remains well-lit.
Thirdly, you need to measure 9 blocks from the back wall and set up a fence along its entire length. If you’re aiming for a larger shooting range with more targets, position the fence further away.
Fourthly, it’s essential to dig out depressions for the rails next to the fence. After that, we can install them.
Fifthly, we will place the cart.
Almost there! The final step is to place a mannequin in the cart; for this, we should position it as shown in the screenshot and push it with the piston.
