The New Year celebrations are approaching, and the developers have released a new beta version of Minecraft 1.16.210.53, focusing primarily on enhancing and expanding the functionality of snow blocks. Significant efforts have been made to ensure that the block possesses realistic physical properties and that interactions with it align with the actual characteristics of loose snow.

The functionality of snow in Minecraft 1.16.201.53 has truly reached a new level of quality. The list of changes includes both visual and mechanical improvements. The following updates have been made:

Items and mobs gradually freeze when in contact with snow, and players will see frost on the screen as an indicator of the freezing level
Mobs and characters will stop freezing if they catch fire, which is quite logical
Flammable items will extinguish if they come into contact with loose snow, just like when interacting with water.
A new command has been introduced that allows players to disable damage from freezing in Minecraft on Android using /gamerule freezedamage false.
Movement on loose snow has been adjusted – heavy mobs will sink but can still move, albeit much slower than usual, while light mobs do not sink at all and move as if on solid ground.
The third-person view has been fixed when a player steps into loose snow.
Snow blocks can no longer stop projectiles, and they won’t deal damage if someone falls on them from a significant height.
The AI of goats has been improved – they now try to avoid stepping on loose snow to prevent sinking into it.
New sounds for moving through loose snow have been added
Fixed the transition between loose snow blocks and adjacent blocks, whose textures sometimes became transparent.

The fixes are quite unique and will be beneficial during winter and in snowy locations. However, the new beta version offers more than just snow-related features. There are also other significant improvements.
