This construction remarkably utilizes a part of the Minecraft Pocket Edition space that is often overlooked.
The structure, named Hydro, features two islands amidst an endless sea, adorned with towering buildings. However, its true highlights are the transparent colored shapes that cluster high in the sky. These holograms, glowing above the city, serve as a fantastic way to capture attention and give the empty space a sense of depth.
Hydro was created by Josh “Donut” Fernandez, who achieved the holographic effect using transparent blocks in only blue and red colors, creating a striking contrast against the rich earthy details of the structures below.
This view from the city streets, presented by Dordsor21, showcases impressive architecture.
These creations have become somewhat of a signature for Donut. “I’m proud to have built the holograms you see in the sky; they truly look special and unlike any ordinary drops,” he tells me.
They represent planets, buildings, and geometry, reflecting the advanced nature of the society residing in the city below. His concept aimed to be a place where one could enjoy the flourishing of scientific discoveries. “I wanted it to feel like the center or epicenter of research progress.”
But while the captivating constructions soar in the air, don’t forget to look down. The buildings also contain many intricacies. “I enjoy using solid, sturdy blocks like anvils, cauldrons, and hoppers when building cities to add a more industrial feel to the concept,” says Donut. Yet some of the most common blocks in Minecraft PE, such as wooden and stone bricks, are his favorite building materials. “It seems like such a simple palette of blocks gives a feeling that there are endless possibilities for their use.”
Hydro is an excellent example of how simple elements, carefully chosen colors, and intriguing projections can create a stunning effect. However, his next project may not be as fantastical, as he mentions plans to explore a more realistic style and scale down the construction. We can’t wait to see what he creates next.
