Star Newcomers Join the Minecraft Film Project: Cast Members from “Barbie” and “What We Do in the Shadows” Join the Ranks

The adaptation of the beloved video game Minecraft has welcomed some shining new additions, including Kate McKinnon, known for her role in “Barbie,” and Jemaine Clement, a star from “What We Do in the Shadows.” This news was revealed through a publication on Deadline.

Additionally, other talented actors have joined the ensemble cast: Jason Momoa, recognized for his performance in “Aquaman,” Emma Myers from the series “Wednesday,” Danielle Brooks, famous for “Peacemaker,” and Jack Black from the film “Tropic Thunder.” The project is being directed by Jared Hess (“Napoleon Dynamite”), with visual design led by Grant Major, whose credits include the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy.

The filming of the Minecraft movie is taking place in New Zealand, with a release date set for April 4, 2025. Details about the plot remain under wraps.
