My sense of direction is terrible, so when I stumbled upon the incredible structure of Keltanis in Minecraft Pocket Edition created by Na7ac, I immediately tried to escape before getting lost!
Unfortunately, the complexity of the build, both in its technical designs and the sprawling networks of roads and pathways, left me bewildered, and I found myself trapped right in the heart of this labyrinthine city. Now, lost among numerous streets and medieval fantasy buildings, I encounter the creator of this dense metropolis in MCPE.
“I have always had a passion for architecture,” shares Na7ac. “Especially ancient, epic structures like temples, citadels, palaces, and dungeons. I love the idea that these edifices have withstood centuries and were only occupied once.”
Keltanis, being Na7ac’s own ancient megacity, heavily draws from his admiration for medieval and ancient architecture as well as his enthusiasm for the fantasy genre. However, the desire to create such an extensive world indicates that his architectural interests weren’t always fulfilled. “The concept of building my ancient city has been in my mind for quite some time without the means to bring it to life. Minecraft PE made the whole idea achievable.”
For Na7ac, it was crucial that this city be functional while also maintaining a natural scale. The city should feel like a real place, complete with industry and life. There are houses—all furnished—taverns, workplaces, and infrastructure.
Na7ac filled this stone city with everything he deemed necessary for self-sufficiency; jobs, forges, farms, sewers, and blast furnaces, but that’s just part of the list. The inventory is as vast as it is comprehensive.
“Head to the tree garden to plant and cut trees,” says Na7ac. “Visit the sawmill to turn them into planks, and at the shipyard, those planks will be needed to construct ships. There’s a whole supply chain throughout the city supporting nearly 100 items.”
“Nothing in this city is made just for show,” states Na7ac. “Windmills spin in the breeze, and mighty city gates can be opened and closed. Visiting the observatory at night allows you to gaze at the stars, and spending time in the academy boosts your experience. You can get food at taverns and craft at workstations.”
He designed this world to be fully alive, containing everything a player in Minecraft PE needs to thrive here. Even I reside here! Mostly because I can’t find my way out, but still!
Na7ac emphasizes that it’s essential for him that his builds are both aesthetically pleasing and functional in Minecraft Pocket Edition. “I don’t want to create a mega-build where everything is simply there and utterly non-functional.”
Keltanis is an industrial powerhouse, a city that lives and breathes production. While it may not have actual inhabitants enjoying the fruits of their labor, it’s comforting to know it exists, patiently waiting for any Minecraft player who might need it—or get lost within it.
