Minecraft PE is a game for everyone!
This isn’t just a whimsical belief in a beloved game—it’s the undeniable truth. People of all ages, backgrounds, and genders each have their unique love for the world of Minecraft Pocket Edition. However, we didn’t bring this up without reason, as the situation is more complex than it seems. Since the dawn of computer games and other platforms, gaming has often been viewed as a pastime primarily for boys, which is quite unfortunate.
Toya shares this sentiment, leading their team to create games that allow women to express their talents and skills. It’s a brilliant concept—to empower everyone, regardless of gender, to pursue their passions.
Their team’s inaugural project was titled “My Gorilla Adventure”, dedicated to Diane Fossey—a fearless woman who devoted much of her life to studying gorillas and protecting them from poachers in Rwanda.
“The film ‘Gorillas in the Mist’ served as the catalyst and greatest inspiration for launching this project,” states Anat Shperling, co-founder of Toya. “I was shocked and amazed by how a young woman fiercely defended these majestic gorillas against invaders. This film made me realize the importance of pursuing what you love, and Toya’s projects are something everyone should experience. Traveling through mysterious jungles, becoming someone else in an unknown wilderness while feeling incredible emotions.”
In her youth, Anat aspired to be either a veterinarian or a filmmaker—or perhaps both. However, life took a different turn, leading her into television journalism in Tel Aviv. As she climbed the career ladder, she became acutely aware of the “glass ceiling” limiting opportunities available to her as a woman.
“This realization sparked the creation of the international women’s film festival. I knew we had to steer the ship ourselves if we wanted change; otherwise, nothing would happen. After decades of hard work, we now see a significant difference between the past and present, thanks to numerous films and festivals created by women,” she asserts.
Following the success of the international women’s film festival, Anat began contemplating ways to shift stereotypes and paradigms from early childhood education. She believed that proper upbringing from a young age would enable our children and future generations to recognize that they can access the same opportunities.
Choosing to convey such themes through Minecraft PE and gaming was no accident. Games represent the epicenter of modern culture, being one of the most creative and adaptable fields today.
And Minecraft PE stands out as one of the best platforms for this purpose. Its positive user engagement, encouragement of decision-making, and strategic thinking serve as a foundation for development.
“There are countless stories in the world that few know about because they haven’t been publicized,” Anat claims. “Remarkable women who shaped history often remained overshadowed by famous male scientists. Therefore, we strive to create more projects featuring extraordinary women, paying close attention to every detail and dissecting the entire story down to the smallest elements.”
“Alice Guy-Blaché exemplifies how easily one can fade into obscurity in history. She was the first female director but remained outside the spotlight. Everyone knew about the Lumière brothers or Griffith, yet no one ever mentioned Blaché, despite her significant achievements in the field,” Anat explains.
Predicting the next venture of the company is impossible. So, we asked Anat: “The new project will focus on visual arts. You will be able to paint directly within Minecraft PE. The source of inspiration comes from a master of color and form, whom you’ll learn about later.”
