“Participants on the server were required to fill in the entire designated area. Only after completing this task could they submit their work for review and receive a larger space with more complex commands.” “Images of cyberpunk and sci-fi structures, along with street photography from Tokyo showcasing vibrant buildings and unique designs, inspired me to create something similar yet grand in scale. I aimed to base my work on realism while incorporating concepts that would make the hive city more intriguing.”
After constructing a skyscraper, Jordn reached out to his friend Tom, who assisted with detailing the building, as well as designing the landscape and forest behind the city. As the project progressed, Jordn’s ambitions grew increasingly ambitious. This led to the gradual formation of connecting roads and additional smaller structures throughout the city. The final touches included billboards and light sources, which posed quite a challenge even for such an experienced builder. “One of the key features in the hive city is a large tram station topped with a glass roof. It took me about three attempts to get it looking just right. I believe the most challenging aspect was creating the tram tracks, as achieving a realistic appearance required precise height adjustments, which proved to be quite difficult.” “I enjoy the sci-fi theme because it allows me to blend realistic elements with something unique and unusual. This opens up many possibilities; instead of simple rectangular buildings, I can add details and transform them into something far more captivating.” I share this sentiment! However, my constructions in Minecraft Bedrock often end up as unsightly cave homes. According to Jordn, the secret to good building lies in challenging oneself, being persistent, tackling complex assemblies, stepping outside one’s comfort zone, and experimenting.
“At the moment, I am honing my skills in spacecraft construction. Generating innovative concepts can be challenging, but recently I’ve been incorporating more design techniques, which has proven to be quite beneficial. My key piece of advice is to resist falling into demotivation. Keep refining your project until it reaches your vision of perfection.” The Hive City project looks far ahead into the future, but what are Jordn’s immediate plans?
“Creating large-scale builds requires a significant amount of effort, so I’ve decided to take a break from my creative endeavors and focus on developing maps for the Minecraft Marketplace. These maps need to meet specific criteria as they are aimed at a younger audience. My other projects allow me to explore my creativity without any constraints.”
Thanks to Jordan for his amazing work. We eagerly anticipate his upcoming projects!
