What I absolutely despise in Minecraft PE are the skeletons. I’m just going about my business when, of course, that dreadful sound of clattering bones comes rushing at me with an inevitable arrow to the elbow. The sad irony is that the only thing I truly enjoy are wolves, which I sadly can’t tame in MCPE until I battle these walking piles of bones. Sigh.
Fortunately, the brilliant PearlescentMoon has managed to create a somewhat surreal wolf that keeps her company. He looks quite intimidating.
Compared to regular wolves in Minecraft, with their blocky bodies and tiny snouts, the wolf by PearlescentMoon appears rather fierce. With thick, rough fur and a wrinkled forehead, this guy seems less like a charming companion and more like a wild beast.
How did she manage to create something with such an aura? Well, she’s had plenty of practice.
“I’ve always loved animals,” she explains, “especially mythology.” One day, she received a black Pegasus statue as a gift, which inspired her first organic build in Minecraft Pocket Edition. “It was a complete failure, but it was my first attempt at creating an organic world,” she says.
A year later, PearlescentMoon began making videos. “This started my weekly attempts at various organic builds,” she shares, “helping me gradually improve my skills.” Now, she’s become an expert in organic design—perhaps one of the most challenging disciplines in building art.
“Many people try to create organic shapes,” she notes, “but then they come to me and say they can’t do it.” Hang in there! Don’t give up! Learn from others and nurture your passion.”
Even PearlescentMoon feels the pressure, but that’s what drives her—it’s what sets her apart. “For me, it’s not acceptable to stop at a completed project and be fully satisfied,” she tells me. “There’s always something I want to change or improve.”
She emphasizes that the first thing you need is anatomy.
“The most crucial part of creating organic forms is understanding the structure and skeleton of what you’re building,” she states. “If you’re new to organics, the first step is to research what you intend to create to get a sense of how it looks in 3D. After that, it becomes similar to sculpting; start with the tension in Minecraft and add further details.”
“My building strategy involves primarily outlining the body shape, then adding limbs, head, and tail one by one. Do this, and coloring will be straightforward once the right gradient and palette are established.”
She continues, “When crafting organic forms, experimenting with movement and positioning can significantly impact the aesthetics of the entire build.
This wolf took PearlescentMoon around nine hours over three days to complete. “He has a relatively simple structure compared to something more fantastical, so it didn’t take too long,” she explains. For her more ambitious projects, like ‘Worthless,’ it can take over 20 hours in Minecraft PE.
