The Rest in Pieces mod transforms the crafting of beds to include cloth, a new material that is dropped by various zombie types in the game.
Introduction
Rest in Pieces is a lightweight modification designed to enhance the early gameplay experience in Minecraft. The mod introduces cloth items in all 16 available colors. These cloths can be obtained by defeating Zombies, Zombie Villagers, Husks, and Drowned, encouraging players to engage in combat rather than solely seeking refuge during the night. The recipe to craft beds is updated to incorporate two pieces of cloth, one wool, and three planks, reflecting this new element.
Development Backstory
The creation of this mod arose from a request within the Fabric Discord community. A user was interested in a port of the original Cloths mod for version 1.21.4. However, due to the original mod being protected by copyright, I opted to develop a fresh mod that could serve as a temporary solution until a port is made available. The original Cloths mod appears to have drawn inspiration from features in the Better than Adventure mod. I am not associated with either of these projects.
Detailed Mechanics
Upon defeating Zombies, Zombie Villagers, Husks, or Drowned, there is a 1 in 3 chance they will drop a cloth. Zombies specifically drop a Blue Cloth, while Husks yield a Brown Cloth, and Drowned drop a Cyan Cloth. Zombie Villagers are versatile, dropping various cloth colors. This mod is designed to be compatible with other mods or datapacks that alter Zombie loot. It’s essential to note that the bed color is determined by the cloth used, not just the wool; cloth can also be dyed to alter its shade.
Usage in Modpacks
Feel free to include this mod in your modpacks! I would appreciate it if the modpacks could be shared through platforms like CurseForge or Modrinth, which allows me to monitor the mod’s engagement. If there’s a desire for this mod to be ported to another version or if compatibility with other mods is requested, please reach out! Additionally, I’m eager to receive any suggestions to enhance the mod, such as potential new applications for cloth; comments can be made on CurseForge, as Modrinth does not support this feature. Feedback is greatly valued!
This mod will also be made available on CurseForge once it received the necessary approvals. I do not intend to distribute it on alternative platforms, which could jeopardize its safety and integrity if obtained elsewhere.
Forge/NeoForge and Alternative Versions
I am open to requests for porting this mod to Forge or NeoForge! Just specify which version and loading system you’re interested in.
