Enhancing Explosions in Medieval Siege Machines
MSM Better Explosions
Medieval Siege Machines is an exciting mod, yet it unfortunately lacks powerful visual and auditory effects when it comes to explosions. This datapack takes explosions to the next level by introducing enhanced visuals, dynamic sound effects, and refined physics.
What Does It Alter?
This datapack completely revamps how specific projectiles (such as those from mortars, culverins, catapults, and trebuchets) interact with blocks. It introduces explosion particles, engaging sounds, and slightly narrows the explosion radius to maintain gameplay balance.
How Is It Implemented?
Each tick, the datapack examines a 3×3×3 section surrounding the projectiles for solid blocks. When a block is detected, a creeper is summoned to explode instantaneously, eliminating the original projectile to avoid triggering the default explosion effects of the mod. Be aware that it will NOT FUNCTION if the game is set to peaceful difficulty or if mob griefing is turned off.
Where to Download MSM for Versions 1.19.x and 1.20.1?
You can locate the mod on CurseForge.
Reported Challenges
There might be instances when the script malfunctions if a projectile is launched from specific angles, allowing the mod’s original explosion instead. Moreover, since the scanning process is extensive, launching multiple projectiles simultaneously could lead to lag on less powerful devices.
Version History
Updates for 1.18.2 and 1.19.x are currently available! Unfortunately, version 1.0.0 does not support 1.16.5, but a fix may be introduced in the future.
