Adds a new slider to the settings menu for the window of jump taps, allowing you to effortlessly transition into creative flight. This addition is especially beneficial for players who want to utilize an elytra in creative mode.
Flight Window Mod
Have you ever attempted to exit creative flight to glide, only to find yourself plummeting instead? You double-tap jump, yet nothing happens, and you descend rapidly instead of deploying your elytra. This isn’t due to lag; it’s because the default game’s hardcoded double-jump window, lasting 7 ticks (0.35 seconds), governs this action. If you miss this window, you either remain in flight or fall without using the elytra, as Minecraft restricts gliding while flying remains activated. The Flight Window mod allows you to adjust this timing to suit your preferences.
Key Features
- Adjustment Slider — integrated directly into Options → Controls, adjacent to the Sprint Window, eliminating the need for a separate mod menu. You can customize how many ticks you have for double-tapping jump to deploy your elytra. The default setting is a more forgiving 5 ticks, compared to the vanilla game’s 7.
- Keybind Toggle — this feature adds a keybind within its own section in Options → Controls → Key Binds, enabling you to switch between your personalized window and the standard timing seamlessly, with on-screen chat feedback indicating which mode is currently active. It is unbound by default, allowing you to assign it as you prefer.
- Settings are preserved like typical vanilla configurations, saved directly to
options.txt. - Client-side only. There’s no installation required on servers, and you won’t be flagged during online play — it solely modifies your input timing window without altering the flight or glide mechanics themselves.
Purpose of the Mod
The vanilla game already includes a similar feature for sprinting through the Sprint Window slider. However, the elytra’s transition from double-jump to glide didn’t receive the same enhancement. Creative-mode players who frequently fly notice this discrepancy more than survival players who double-tap to sprint. This mod expands on that concept, providing a more tailored experience for elytra users.
