Features and Bug Fixes
Blocks
- Resolved a crash when teleporting into a chunk where a block entity was destroyed (MCPE-178461).
- Lily Pads no longer flicker from afar (MCPE-91452).
- Fixed flickering of Sunflowers from a distance (MCPE-122695, MCPE-102412).
- Fence Gate blocks now use “minecraft:cardinal_direction” instead of “minecraft:direction”. Values include “north, south, east, west”.
Graphical
- Dark edges at low Y coordinates now fade in gradually (MCPE-121983).
Mobs
- Creaking’s eyes are now rendered when invisible if it has a target (MCPE-188259).
Magma Cube
- The updated Magma Cube model and texture now only apply to resource packs that override the original assets. This change is retroactive starting from version 1.21.50 (MCPE-188547).
Stability and Performance
- Fixed an issue preventing download of resource packs for multiplayer games when previously canceled.
User Interface
- Touch controls: Blocks can now be placed on top of containers while flying downward, similar to PC (MCPE-176407).
- Inbox messages with long content are now scrollable immediately after opening with a gamepad.
- Resolved “unknown error” during specific resource pack downloads.
- Touch button for “Pick Block” is now available for both Survival and Creative modes.
Trial Mode
- Removed Sign In, Profile, Inbox, and Gathering buttons from the Start Menu in Trial Mode.
- Removed the Profile button from the Pause Menu in Trial Mode.
Vanilla Parity
Biomes
The vegetation of many Overworld biomes has been updated to align more closely with Java Edition:
- Overworld: Pumpkins generate in larger patches. Dandelions now alternate with Poppies.
- Plains: Short Grass generates more frequently; Flower patches are larger and mixed.
- Sunflower Plains: Sunflowers generate in cohesive patches.
- Flower Forest: Trees are denser, and flowers generate in unified patches.
- Jungle & Bamboo Jungle: Trees and Jungle Bushes are denser, and Bamboo is more consistent. Melon patches are more frequent.
- Swamp & Mangrove Swamp: Lily Pads generate more frequently, and Mangroves are sparser but generate over water (MCPE-153748).
- Desert & Badlands: Dead Bushes generate more frequently.
- Oceans: Kelp generates in denser patches (except Frozen Oceans).
Blocks
- Pale Oak Leaves no longer appear lighter than Java (MCPE-188217).
- Twisting Vines and Weeping Vines now have an increased drop rate when broken with Fortune-enchanted tools (100% with Fortune III) (MCPE-91033).
- Dispensers can place Shulker Boxes underwater (MCPE-76004).
Items
- Suspicious Stews with Tulips now apply Weakness Effect for 7 seconds, matching Java (MCPE-188040).
Sounds
- Nether Brick variants now have consistent sounds with Nether Bricks, similar to Java (MCPE-74879).
Technical Updates
Add-Ons and Script Engine
- Items for the creative inventory can now be organized into the crafting item catalog for new items added by packs, allowing grouping, new groups, or loose addition.
- Item and Block JSON files require a namespace for group names in the “menu_category”.
- Added a new toggle setting for showing Content Log GUI on load errors.
Commands
- Resolved an issue with incorrect item counts using the clear command.
- The “/loot mine” command is now outside of experiments.
- The “/kick” command now supports target selectors in Realms.
Components
- Added “minecraft:renders_when_invisible” to enable invisible entities to render appropriately.
Editor
- Daylight cycle and multiplayer settings are now respected in exported worlds.
- Added viewport hotkeys for adjusting fly speed in the Editor.
Network Protocol
- Added ActorFlags::RENDERS_WHEN_INVISIBLE.
Experimental Technical Updates
Aim Assist
- Changed aim-assist preset settings to use unique namespace IDs.
API
- Moved methods like Block::isWaterlogged and Block::setWaterlogged from beta to 1.17.0.
- Introduced new functions to Script Block API to control liquid-related behavior.
Gameplay
- Yaw rotation limits have been added for cameras with orbit components.
Graphical
- Added bilinear upscaling option and enabled Deferred Technical Preview for PlayStation.
Molang
- Stabilized queries for input modes, improving resource pack interactions.
Scripting API
- Several classes and properties have transitioned from beta to stable 1.17.0, enhancing input tracking and behavior consistency.
Stability and Performance
- Resolved crashes related to custom jigsaw structures and nether interactions.
