What’s New in Minecraft Beta & Preview 1.21.50.25?
The Pale Garden has some exciting new features this week, including the introduction of Resin and Eyeblossoms! These unique elements add an intriguing dimension to the gameplay experience, giving players new opportunities for crafting and exploration.
Resin
- Resin Clumps are a new multi-faced block.
- Can be obtained by destroying a Creaking Heart or found near it when attacked.
- Craft into a Block of Resin or harden them into Resin Bricks using a furnace.
- Resin Bricks can be used to create building blocks, such as stairs, walls, and chiseled bricks.
- Blocks of Resin can even be crafted into Creaking Hearts using two Pale Oak Logs.
- All resin blocks can be found in chests in the Woodland Mansion.
Eyeblossom Flowers
- These flowers are unique to the Pale Garden biome and come in two variants: Closed and Open.
- Eyeblossoms change based on the time of day—open at night and closed during the day.
- In realms without a day/night cycle, Eyeblossoms stay static.
- Open Eyeblossoms emit a glowing orange light, which is useful for visibility.
- These can be grown by bonemealing the grass in the Pale Garden biome.
- Bees may get poisoned by interacting with Eyeblossoms, adding a unique twist to their use.
- Crafting with Eyeblossoms can yield Gray or Orange Dye, depending on the variant used.
Pale Garden Updates
- The color of the Pale Garden sky at the horizon has been adjusted for consistency with the Java version.
- Textural adjustments made to Pale Oak Signs to match other signs in the game.
- Pale Oak Saplings are now compostable.
- Increased the ambient frequency of Pale Hanging Moss sounds to enhance immersion.
- Pale Hanging Moss no longer grows on Pale Oak trees cultivated from Pale Oak Saplings.
Creaking Heart and Creakings
- Destruction of Creaking Hearts now drops between 20 to 24 experience points, even when using Silk Touch.
- The ambient sounds for the Creaking Heart have been enhanced for a richer experience.
- Creaking mobs are now more aggressive, with an increased attack rate and improved animations.
- Upon destruction, the Creaking Heart’s entities twitch before crumbling, enhancing the effect.
- When trapped in a hole with a player for more than five seconds, Creakings crumble to prevent player soft-lock scenarios.
- Nearby Sculk Catalysts now bloom when a Creaking crumbles, although they do not drop XP.
Blocks and Items Updates
Several blocks in Minecraft Beta 1.21.50.25 have undergone modifications in behavior, including changes to their mining tools and drop mechanics.
Modified Drop Mechanics
- Some blocks now require specific tools for drops, such as the Blast Furnace, Cauldron, and Enchanting Table, which drop only when broken with a pickaxe.
- Budding Amethyst is now slower to mine if using an improper tool, adding a layer of challenge for players.
- The following blocks can now be mined more quickly using the incorrect tool: Bell, Brewing Stand, Ender Chest, etc.
General Gameplay Improvements
- Camera rotation around X and Y axes has been adjusted for a more intuitive experience while using the
/camera
command. - Spawning mechanics have been improved to reduce player spawn rates in water or powder snow.
- Second passengers in a boat or camel now receive a warning message when approaching an unloaded chunk, reducing confusion in multiplayer sessions.
Graphical and Interface Enhancements
Graphical Updates
- The unintended darker tint on kelp has been removed for improved underwater visuals.
- Textural consistency updates have been applied to Pale Oak Signs and Hanging Signs to align with other signs in-game.
UI & Interaction
- Items like Shields now maintain a consistent size when moved between inventory slots.
- Bundles update their tooltip correctly when moved, preventing confusion when managing items.
- Touch controls have been optimized to reduce accidental interactions, particularly with boats and other objects.
Realms and Technical Updates
Realms Adjustments
- The option to opt out of Realms Stories has been removed, and its settings can now be found in the Timeline tab.
- An issue preventing players from creating a new world on an active Realm has been resolved.
Technical Updates for Creators
The latest update also includes significant API and component modifications:
- Added new optional arguments to
addNewTheme()
for enhanced customization. - New Locate tool added to help find specific biomes more easily.
- The “emit_particle” entity event response now allows creators to emit particles from an entity’s bounding box, creating more dynamic gameplay elements.
Experimental Features
This update also brings some experimental features for creators and players:
- Camera Aim Assist feature added, which currently targets blocks, with future updates expected to include entities.
- New particle type “CreakingCrumble” added for more dramatic in-game visual effects.
