Welcome to the world of VulkanFlow! This mod seamlessly incorporates shader effects into Minecraft’s rendering engine without compromising your frame rates. Tailored specifically for players using laptops or older PCs, VulkanFlow offers a modern aesthetic without detrimental performance impacts. This project originated from my own desire to experience shaders on my integrated graphics; hence, I developed this solution.
Crucial Alpha Information
The VulkanFlow mod is currently in its Alpha stage. At present, the following features are fully operational:
- Bloom:
Cinematic, smooth glows emitted from light sources.
- Wind:
Softly swaying leaves and grass. (Planned features such as dynamic shadows and customized water are under development and will be introduced in future updates!)
Why Choose VulkanFlow?
Traditional shaders, whether accessed via Iris or OptiFine, often hinder performance on integrated graphics cards due to their heavy computational requirements in a single frame. VulkanFlow approaches this challenge from a different angle:
- Time Slicing:
This feature spreads the rendering workload across multiple frames, effectively reducing frame rate spikes.
- Vulkan & OpenGL Compatibility:
Engineered to integrate directly with Minecraft’s new Vulkan rendering pipeline while also providing an OpenGL fallback.
- Optimized for Integrated GPUs:
Specifically designed and tested to maintain a stable 60 FPS on devices like the Intel UHD 620, as observed on a ThinkPad T480.
Setup & Compatibility
- Sodium:
Completely compatible! VulkanFlow is built from the ground up to function perfectly alongside Sodium.
- No Need for Iris / OptiFine:
VulkanFlow operates as a lightweight, standalone graphics mod. Installation Tip: Currently, you need to install Sodium to access the settings menu of the VulkanFlow mod.
