Introducing a Quake-Inspired Movement Modification for Minecraft
This unique mod brings a range of high-paced movement mechanics to Minecraft, drawing inspiration from movement dynamics in games like Fortress Forever and Team Fortress Classic. Key features of this modification include bunnyhopping, strafe jumping, air control, trimping, and sharking. One of the highlights is the removal of speed reduction typically caused by fall damage, though this feature requires server-side installation for full functionality.
The bunnyhopping feature is uncapped, while also offering configuration options for players who prefer a Fortress Forever-style experience with both soft and hard bunnyhop limits. Interestingly, the underlying code for air and ground acceleration borrows elements from Half-Life, maintaining a close resemblance to typical Quake mechanics.
The trimp mechanic, a distinctive addition to this mod, allows players to convert horizontal speed into vertical lift. By holding the sneak button while jumping, players can generate extra height if they maintain sufficient speed. Additionally, ‘sharking’ offers players the ability to elegantly glide above water surfaces simply by tapping the jump key.
